The reason I ask, is because I've never had one. Also, because my girlfriend is looking for a run-of-the mill car to drive.

-auto, sunroof, 4 door. Less than $7000.

Why is it that I can't seem to find anything remotely nice fitting that description? I search for what I know...Civics, Proteges, and I come up with nothing.

So, post yours (and maybe give some ideas)! Her not having a car is driving me nuts, especially since I can't drive mine 90% of the time :(

Don't mind the bent bumper. Some dumb lady rear ended me on the highway as she was putting on makeup and talking on her cell phone

I LOL-ed at that too. Timeless.

Cavaliers have alleged head gasket issues.
VWs have electrical issues, and not cheap to repair (I owned 2, never again.)
Corolla was iffy, kinda a granny car, but definately more of a possibility over the others.

ROFL True, I own a mk2 jetta. Its not cheap to rebuild, but the engine is built like a rock. I mean this thing has oil squirters, forged rods, interenaly balanced, and some of the thickest valve stems I've ever seen. Plus the entire underbody is coated with that rubber stuff. So its a 91, and has no rust.
Nice cars IMO.

If you lived in Houston I would guess that it was my 'ol lady that did it. I had to pull her off my insurance because she was driving it up to often.

I've never grasped the concept of how a woman can put on make-up, talk on the cell, smoke a cigarette, drink coffee, eat something, look at some odd thing off the side of the road while telling the passenger about something that happened 2 days ago when she was at the store all at the same time and still think they are going to be able to drive without any mishaps.

Oh yea, to get back on topic, my daily is a 96 Galant.

32 mpg or so on the highway.
The A/C doesnt work because the controller caught fire, cruise control controller stopped working. Luckily I dont have power windows because I'm sure they would have broke.

Engine is rock solid though, doesnt burn much oil, and the gas milage is obviosuly waaayyy better the my GSX.

WE HAVE A WINNER! Lol. Gotta love VW's. I had more to complain about though. I had 2 VR6 MKIII Jettas.

Window regulators, vacuum leaks in the door locks (cause they are vac powered), blown heater cores, coolant leaks, cracked coil packs, on and on and on LOL.

LOL and dont forget thoes stupid clam shell jacks that get people killed. My dad was jacking up my car, It kicked out and almost broke his arm. :|
They make nice fender rollers though.....

You must be referring to the WIDOWMAKER!

96 cavalier & a 1990 Maxima & i have been daily driving both of them as hard as i can so i can buy a new car & my nissan just wont die, the cavalier has been good to... but man really though i give the daily a$$ whippins & everyday the just keep running....i cant wait to buy a new car

Used to be my Galant, but now it's a GSR powered civic. Way better gas mileage, and still a little fun.

a New Beetle...ugh:notgood:
It had been a very reliable car though. Havent had major issues and now Im at 80k. on 13.5g tank I ran MD to NC on I-95 and got 420 miles on it. City I get about 300-330 a tank (Im hard on it too)
one plus is having a turbo:rocks: and still getting good mileage. Parts are expensive, but look online and you will find cheap stuff. I did the brakes for 300 bucks with new VW pads and Brembo OEM rotors.
Acura Integra, Mazda Miata, VW Jetta, Mits Lancer...I think those have a good amount of +'s to them

PS - I love that Harley Edition!

I had to use one of those once to help a co-worker change her tire.. that thing was scary..

As far as daily drivers, I'm thinking of getting a cheap motorcycle to replace my bus.

Used to be my GSX but now I drive daily my 2006 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner. It's a truck that handles like a performance car:thumb:
