Ok heres what happened and maybe one of you guys can tell me whats wrong or what might have happened... I was driving and my car started to act funny so I pulled over and shut it off for a few seconds... Then I tried to start it back up and it wouldin start. It was tryin but just seemed like it couldin quite get goin ya kno? So then i tried a few more times then I heard this loud "POP" sound!!?!??.... At this point I said forget it and just had it towed to my house. Later on I went and checked it out and noticed my DOHC wheels dont even spin when the cars tryin to start (Note: The dohc belt that runs the wheels is not broke). Do you guys think that loud pop sound was the sound of my timing belt snapping? Also if that could be the case what kind of damage could have been done while the car was at a complete stop??

well it could have been the timing belt, how many miles do you have on the car? and has it ever been changed? and if you just drove it alil after the noise and then it made the pop u shouldnt have done any real dmg. get it to a shop (or if your good with cars) you can open it up and look for youself. other than that it could be because you had no oil but thats rare or sumthing got lodged into the intake like a stone etc (this actually happened to me, do not get a BOMZ filter!)

It has about 126,000 miles and to my knowings it has NOT been changed, Also if no oil could have been a factor why does that cause the car not to start and what damage could have been done?

You said the cam gears don't turn when cranking correct? Does the timing belt move or does it not turn as well?

Yes, the cam gears DO NOT turn what so ever. And as far as the timing belt I dont know I dont even know where the timing belt is located I just know what it is and what it does.

If the cam gear's don't turn but the car is cranking, you're ####ed. You're timing belt most likely snapped and you had multiple valves slamming against pistons. Bottom line: you're motor is trashed. Time for a rebuild.

the timing belt is on the cam gears, the belt makes the cam gears move.

Ok then from what I remember that belt is NOT broken so what else could be the problem?
If the cam gears really don't turn but the engine is actually cranking over, then it doesn't matter what caused it at this point, you're engine is toast.

UPDATE!!! What if the car was stuck in 3rd or 4th gear would this cause the engine to act this way when trying to start?
