Whats under the headliner?

I performed a search already and couldn't come up with the answer, but if I took the headliner and "frame" completely out of the car and left it that way, would the visors bolt back up, and is the roof painted/possibly clear coated?

This is on a 2G.

there is a plce that sells fiberglass headliners that you can paint for around $250 shipped cant remember the name though.

I've had my headliner out for a couple of months. It's your factory color once you take off your headliner, and look up. If that's what you're asking.
