bec this is what i come up on In our quest to build a family of optimal performance upgrade turbos for DSM cars, we went down all the typical paths. Standard 16G's had crazy boost creep, while Big 16G's had poor efficiency. Garret hybrids were time-consuming to build, expensive and complex to install, and could not match Mitsubishi compressor efficiency. 20G hybrids based on the the standard 16G required external wastegates to work at all. so my ? is shod i go with the td05d big 16g or the td06 20g :thumb: or :notgood:

What are your power goals? Do you want to run pump gas, race gas, or methanol injection? Do you want it to appear stock? Do you have a preference between internal and external wastegate?

There are tons of options, it all depends on what you want out of your car, and your budget.

i just want to hit 350 to 400 to the wheel ... run pump / race gas the tdo6 20g is still a internal wastegate and the 20g is good up to 500hp as of the td05d big 16g i my get 345hp out of if but my ? is whats the pros and cons on the td05d 16g vs suoer's td06 20g of these turbo i have the small 16g on my car now and its burnt and its on its last leg seals are blown bec i go boots creep and i real dont have a lot of cash right now

e3 16g(350hp) or the FP18g(400hp) would meet your goals.

The next step up from those 2 would be the PTE 5557E. (Ball Bearing "50 Trim" with billet compressor wheel). Should spool like the 16g, but make your 400+hp goal more easily reachable.

No need to yell, but 500WHP out of a 20G isn't all that easy. A more realistic goal would be 450WHP and even that will be difficult and will require some good tuning.

If buying new, the 20G is much more than $400 and I think there are more efficient/fun options these days.

Standard 16G's had crazy boost creep....
Boost creep is related more to the size and flow of your exhaust system than anything. The bigger and less restrictive it is, the more your turbo will creep.

...while Big 16G's had poor efficiency.
Where did you hear that?

The Big 16G / Evo III 16G is without a doubt the most efficient turbo in it's category. Where else can you find a direct bolt-on turbo that can generate 38-40lb/min of airflow while reaching full boost around 3500rpms on most applications?

Garret hybrids were time-consuming to build, expensive and complex to install, and could not match Mitsubishi compressor efficiency.
Not to mention unreliable as hell and picky with their incoming oil pressure.

20G hybrids based on the the standard 16G required external wastegates to work at all.
Not inherently true. I've built and installed numerous internally-gated DSM bolt-on 20G's that had no trouble controlling boost whatsoever. The biggest challenge may be finding a wastegate actuator strong enough to hold the flapper shut at higher boost levels.

I CAN GET THE TDO6H 20G WITH THE Complete Installation Kit FOR 400.00 AND THATS GOOD UP TO 500HP
A perfect response from the average, uneducated consumer.

NO 20G COSTS $400. A real MHI 20G costs $900; possibly over $1000 with an internal wastegate and a ported turbine housing. What you've linked us to is a Chinese eBay 20G which could last anywhere from 5 minutes to 5k miles before it explodes. The money you will have saved will then be used to buy another Chinese 20G, beginning a painful downward spiral.

Not that it matters, but a more realistic number for horsepower with a 20G on a stock 2G 7-bolt is closer to 320-350whp as you're limited to what amount of boost and tuning your head gasket can withstand. At that point your FWD will be one-wheel-peeling it's way down the street regardless of how much fuel or additional boost you're running.

sorry i have LSD in my gst and im runing 3'' turbo back with one resinheor buy the back tire and were can i find a real MHI turbo 16G /big 16G / Evo III 16G / 18G / 20G????????? and boost creep dont have anything to do with the size or flow of your exhaust system its the Wastegate or can also be in the vacuum line

Stay away from ebay turbos. It's not worth trying to save up some money and half-ass your way into a cheap product to cure a fix. Remember, the cheapest is not always the best and can sometimes end up being the most expensive in the end.
Go to either of those links juzmx posted for you and get yourself a tried and true MHI turbo. Evo3 16g's have proven to be great street turbos over time with great potential.

I will tell you from experience...buy a REAL MHI turbo! I have been "trying" to make my original upgrade of the eBay 16g work for the last three months and keep cracking my center sections and exhaust housings....I'm now going back to the OEM 14b and I'm at the point I don't care what the power is...I just wanna drive the car...so do yourself a favor and buy the real MHI turbo...you WILL not be disappointed with the money spent when you are able to drive you beast...Good luck

thanks guys now that i have realy look at the real mhi turbos i thank i shod have never trade my stock td04 for this big 16g bec no that i look at my 16g and look at the MHI 16g my BIG 16G is that ebay shit....so now im just going to put the $$ i have and just get the MHI EVO III 16G or the 18G AGEN THANK YOU FOR THE HELP :thumb:

Good call, I have a real 16g and my neighbor has an ebay 16g in his car and whenever we line up our 2g gsx's mine will easily pull on his at the same level of boost and same mods. Although mine might have a stronger engine or something....

so now im just going to put the $$ i have and just get the MHI EVO III 16G or the 18G
Honestly I can't justify another $200 to gain a tiny bit of peak airflow, but if the 18G is what you want then by all means go for it.

im just going to get the EVO III Big 16G only if i had more funs i would just be geting the DSM 20G-6SL2 Street/Strip Turbocharger but i need a new turbo asap so ill just be geting to save more $$ and get it when i do my 2.4L set up bec ill be going all out then

...get it when i do my 2.4L set up bec ill be going all out then
Why a 2.4 in a FWD? You'll never get enough traction to benefit from the added torque.

I'd rather have a rev-happy 2.0 with a giant turbo in a FWD.
