I just got my PTE SCM50 (50 trim) installed but I'm still running slow since I'm missing some of the mods I should have by this point (long story). Anyway, which of the following do you guys think I need to fix first:

- Stock cat
- Stock downpipe
- Non-ported stock 02 housing
- Low boost (no boost controller / internal wastegate)

Other than the above I have all the correct mods to be running this turbo, just curious what would get me the most bang for the buck.....

I ordered a test pipe off Ebay yesterday since I'm guessing the cat is the biggest thing holding me back.

I'm no expert, but from what I gather the big difference between a 50 trim and smaller turbos can be seen at higher boost (higher than 15psi) like around 19psi or 21psi, so a boost gauge and boost controller is a good start.

In order to get the most out of the turbo you will need a larger downpipe & cat/testpipe... and will need to port the 02 housing to avoid boost creep like you said... so I would do that next.

I notice you have bigger injectors and a FMIC which are necessary in order to turn up the boost, but what about fuel supply (upgraded fuel pump)? If it is still stock you NEED a bigger one... or at least a Fuel Pump Rewire for a temporary fix. Keep the boost levels down until you can supply enough fuel.

Other than that... looks good to me.... good luck... keep us updated!

Oops, I actually have a Walbro 255lph pump, just forgot to add it to my profile. It's added now...

I'm hoping to get all the missing mods taken care of in a few months, I've just spent too much on my car lately and looking for some cheap HP gains ...

I just installed an AGP RS49(50 trim) to my '93AWDTalon. I have 550cc injectors, the stock sidemount, Dejon tool upper IC pipe wth a GM MAF as a blow thru. Of course I have the Translator for tuning and the "Scanmaster also for tuning" 2.5" ss mandrel exhaust, test pipe and straight thru muffler. i am up to 16 PSI without knock.
This winter i will add 660 or 720cc inj's, FMIC & 3" pipes. Mark

i dont see how u could do as expensive if mods like 50trim and fmic and not do a downpipe/o2 and tespipe.

It will make a world of diff

it was kind of pointless at this stage to get a 50 trim.. you basically have no supporting mods.. not to be a jerk but that money you spent on the 50trim and FMIC you should have spent getting boost controller, boost gauge, 3" dp, 3" exaust, and other supporting mods.. you need to teach that thing how to walk before it can run ya know.. but good turbo choice keep us updated! :thumb:

My turbo died, I wasn't about to buy another T25....

I'm going to go ahead and get everything done in the next few weeks, I was just asking out of curiosity.

I was hoping somebody might have some interesting insights about the limits of the stock cat or running big turbos at low boost.

The reason your not getting any good info is cause its a obvious question. You just listed in your first post why your car was slow. All those things will choke the hell out of a 50 trim get some money together and fix your problem.

A rather apt analogy, gixrman :thumb:

Free up that exhaust.

GET A BOOST GAUGE!!!!1 ;)
