What's a good tuner?

I have used the search function. I am wondering what the best tuner is for the 1g. If I can I don't want to have to buy expensive hook ups, or is that the only way to go with it?

What are your goals for the car? You can tune it with an afc wich is cheap and alot of power can be made on it.

I agree with this statement. This question has alot of variables.

Well, the car has a real 16g, a huge fmic, a turbo back exhaust, and I was told head work (the extent of which I don't know). I would like to run low 12's.
Right now the only issue it has is that it idles up and down, but only after it warms up. I have an HKS that is venting to the atmosphere, could that be it?
It runs good, don't know about quarter mile yet, but I need to data log and adjust if necessary.

I thought on the dsmlink the 1g would need an expensive hook up?
Do the others mentioned not need anything special hook up wise?
Do these cars just use an obd port?

Sorry for all the questions guys, I am usually ok with cars but I am an old muscle guy.

If it is leaking then it's very well possible. First thing to go about fixing that is boost leak test. Also during shifts you will run rich because of venting.

EPROM ECU and a chip burner or emulator and Tunerpro, or ds-map aka jackal. A great tuning solution and it doesn't cost much (85 for a chip burner or 175 for an emulator), plus an EPROM ECU if yours is not.

Did a boost leak test and had about 6 leaks, nothing out of the BOV. It holds pressure, but I do hear something very faint at the throttle body.

The throttlebody shaft seals usually leak.

Adjust your base idle set screw, it's on top the throttlebody and has a black rubber cap (the cap is almost always missing though). Turn it in to slow the idle down to where it belongs and it should be fine.
