What's a better SMIC for a EVOIII? ADFX or the dejontool?

I need a better intercooler for my EVO III turbo before summer. Which one is a better SMIC? I'm hopein I can get away with 20psi and a smic instead of forking over big bux for a FMIC.

Dejon seems to be prefered by most. If you plan on getting a bigger turbo down the line I would just turn the boost down a bit for a little while and save that money for the fmic.

dejon is my prefered brand for intake parts, go with them and youll always be satisfied :thumb:

What kind of boost can you run on the Dejon SMIC w/an EvoIII 16G? Of course assuming you have all supporting mods...

One side of me want the smic so I can buy other stuff and the other side says get the fmic because the smic still won't be good enough for a evoIII LOL.

Still lookin at the hahnracecraft fmic and they are only about 1 hour away

You can run over 20psi on the dejontool. I believe their new one is rated around 400hp. It should be enough for a evoIII. It comes down to what you want....Can spend an extra $400ish and get a FMIC, which will give you room for an upgrade in the future, or you can buy a smic which is an easy install and is stealthy.

first of all there is no excuse for not being able to afford a fmic if you have enough money for a dejon sidemount.Go to your local dsm club website and post for a fmic and youll be surprised how cheap they can get.I bought my stillen fmic from utdsm.org and only paid 120.You can also go to the good old trusty EBAYMOTORS.COM.You wont regret doing it right the first time.GET A FMIC!

I also purchased the Dejon Super-Big SMIC and I was happy with the results. With the Stock SMIC, My EVOIII 16G almost felt SLOWER than the T-25, but installing the Dejon SMIC definately woke it up at only 15-16PSI! Now I just need to finish my fuel mods (600 series injectors, S-AFC, and a pocketlogger) and I can crank the boost to 20+ and REALLY see what she does.

Honestly, with a core rated at 400HP, I firmly believe that the Dejon SMIC can handle anything the EVOIII will throw at it.

EDIT: I chose to stay with a SMIC because I'm not a fan of the way FMICs look. And since I will not be going bigger than an EVOIII, or trying to do better than 12's, the Dejon SMIC will more than suit my needs. :thumb:

I have the Hrc Smic and I was very pleased with it. It allowed 20ish on the 14b with pump gas and no knock, and never heat soaked. Iam selling it now to upgrade but if you plan on sticking with a evo3 I would say its a good choice.

I'll sell you my Supra SMIC. It's good for 400hp, so they say. I still heatsoak after 2-3 runs. Get a FMIC.

But you're running a Frank 2 20G right? An EVOIII 16G won't put as much of a demand on the IC as that bad boy will. ;)

How much boost are you pushing?

18 PSI is the max I can go and it still knocks. SBR FMIC is in my future. I'm sure a 16g wouldn't be as bad. It's a cheap route, you can get them for around $80-$100 but I sure wouldn't fork out $400-$500 for a SMIC. You might as well spend the extra $100 or so and get the front mount. It's just my opinion, I'm not saying SMIC arn't good.

The Hahn FMIC is nice, I'd say just save up and go all the way. IT took me forever to come up with the 9 bills, but then I just think about the poeple who spent 1400 on this thing when it first came out. FMICs have dropped so much in price lately, its worth it to just go ahead and get one.

go FMIC. Im running an evoIII and a SI 24x12x3 IC. I get abosolutly NO knock/heat soak. The entire IC setup here are my costs:

FMIC - 300$
Piping - 72$ 4-U-bends www.englishracing.com
J-Pipe - 30$ - Thanks brian ;)
Couplers- 25$ www.ebay.com 2-foot stick
clamps - 17$ local autoparts store

Total: $444.00

It is *really* easy to put the piping together, I even short routed it. I don't understand why people always buy an expensive kit.

Pay no attention to the hammer on the valve cover. It wasn't intercooler related. LOL.

Here's a picture of my piping out of the car, only things not shown are J-pipe and 8" straight piece for my BOV, and a small 45* i cut out of a u-bend to adapt to the TB.
