I have a 91 eagle talon tsi fwd. Well the 5speed tranny has taken a crap on it. I just bought the car and am not familiar with them yet. I did a search and didnt get a postitive answer but what year trannys fit in the 91 talons fwd? Can I use a non turbo 5 speed tranny from a 91 or any other year? What clutch you guys recommend me to throw in it while I got it apart? Thanks guys for any help

Turbos needs the bigger F5M33 tranny whereas the non-turbos uses the F5M22 tranny.

Look on the tranny bellhousing below the radiator cap and you should see the stamping of the particular model number listed above.

The clutch choices depends on what you plan on doing with the vehicle - stock, or up to heavy mods to the motor.

Good luck - DSM

the n/t will work but u will have to use the n/t flywheel and clutch as for me i am trying to get a turbo tranny so i can use a beefed up clutch

not completely done yet but the only difference ive noticed in the two is the hole in the top that doesnt get used for anything and the shifter arm is a little longer. but looking at how my cables were on the 91 tranny they are spread out from the point of the brakcet that holds them to the tranny. with the shorter arms it seems to align the cables a lot better.

my buddy had issues with that cause the bracket holding the cables were different and caused it to pop out of gear on a regular so make sure u get the braket with the tranny you gonna use

Well, I guess Im going to try a 90 model than cause I have found a few of them around here. Thanks guys for the help

the brakcets on the 2 trannys i have are the same, just the shifter arm is shorter

one tranny is a 90 and one is a 91, only difference is the hole that looks like it could be for a mount but not used on the 91 isnt there at all on the 90 and the arms are different, the brackets are the same

ok so i was wrong the brackets are a little different, just have to re-use your original, just got it done, worked great :D bout damn time too i missed driving it
