Ok, well the previous owner of my car made a big mess and now I don't know which cable is positive and which one's negative on the fuel pump assembly

Which of these cables is positive and which one's negative?

What would happen if I connect the wires incorrectly? Lets say I hook up positive to negative, instead of positive to positive...
Somebody please help me out:( . My fuel pump is out and I'm ready to put in a 255 but I can't do this until I figure out which wire is which

Problem solved:thumb: I know which wire's which. BUT I still had one more question. What exactly would happen if the wires are hooked up incorrectly?
