those rods look like 1g rods but i dont know for sure and the pistons look like 2g but i cant tell u for sure?

oops sorry i didnt see that this was for the 420a

Don't know much about the 420a, but those appear to have a step in the center. So could mean they are a slightly higher compression than stock? They dont look like they are high end or performance pistons.. I only say this because it appears you can see a casting mark of some sort in the center. (the ring) A Good, forged, name brand piston would have this feature.. Infact, any forged piston would not.:|

That's the factory piston and rod. Mine looked just like that. (but dirtier)

If the pistons are in good repair and you intend to reuse them, smooth off the ridges on the face to prevent hot-spots before installing them.

Also, keep in mind they're 1mm offset when reinstalling. (avoid turning them around)

well the block was bored .04 over..so there both just stock .04 over?

Hopefully they're Topline .040" over, but they're definitely OE design.

If the piston's are for factory bore and the block is bored that much, I wouldn't reuse them.

no the pistons are bored over too..they were in the block and they measure right..what about the rods..any good?

Those are factory rods, also. So long as they're straight, the bores are clean and round, there's no cracks or other obvious signs of inevitable failure, and the threads are good, they should be alright to reuse.

You may want to take the block and internals to a reputable machine shop; they'll be able to tell you quickly what can be reused, what needs replaced, and if any work needs to be done.
