What to do with stock coolant lines?

I'm putting in a t3/t4 and my question is if I need to have the stock turbo coolant lines routed into each other. If not I'd like to just remove the lines and plug up the holes to keep the area less cluttered. I would've just figured I could plug them up, but from what I could gather from searching is that the non turbo engines also have a coolant line where we do so I'm guessing that there is probably a reason to have coolant flowing through there.

On a side note, does anyone know what size the coolant line fittings are that thread into the block?

Get an NT water pipe and water neck. You already have a non water cooled oil cooler so you're set there.

Hmm...I'm getting mixed suggestions - even from your posted link Jim. This is the first time I've seen two wisemen with conflicting advice. I'm not sure which one to follow. I would very much like to remove the lines and just install plugs in their places, but it sounds like Jim has a reason why it shouldn't be done.

The N/T Thremostat Housing / Neck & N/T Big Coolant Pipe do NOT have those Turbo Coolant Fittings - You can plug yours if you like if your Turbo doesn't require them.

Your not really getting two conflicting suggestions. One is cleaner and will require you to buy a few parts and install them, the other is $1 piece of hose and 30second install. Either way will work. I took the $1 hose route because I didn't want to spend the time looking for the parts to install when I have the hose in my garage ready to go. The guy in the other thread (Cosmo) said blocking was his solution because his turbo was hitting the banjo bolt. Thats because his manifold tucks the turbo to close to the block were my Turbonetics manifold puts it far enough away that it dones't touch.

At the risk of sounding like a knoob (and since I havn't seen my engine bay in 3 months  ) doesn't the coolant go through the oil filter housing to cool it or something? I'm sure there are water lines that go through it which is why I looped. I have pics of my install but can't follow the lines from just the pics and I did my turbo install about a year ago so I'm forgetting right now.. Somebody wanna clarify if it blocks the water to your oil filter housing if you block the pipes or are they routed differently? Have a peak at this pic.. Maybe im loosin it..OMG

KFT0001 has a '90 - so no Water to Oil Cooler. And even on my 91 the Water to Oil Cooler was on a completely different Circuit - When I went to an Air to Oil Cooler it didn't change my Turbo Coolant Piping at all.

Great Pic though!

Yea, im only 50% stupid. It's been 3 years since my 1G so I don't remember those small differences.

KFT0001, sounds like blocking would be your best cleanest option!
