Well, i want some go in my car I dont need tons of power, though i do plan on turboing in the future. So I want to know if this sounds like a good setup. I've thought about Strokin to 2.2L and ive thought about 2.4L swap. Each alot of work and i really dont have enuf time or enuf dsm friends around here (98tsiawd is it). So i decided to go with a Nitrous Express Wet Setup and forging internals, Udp, Cai, Header, Dp, i have gst exhaust (or is it gsx, i forget), and i might keep that or upgrade to newer exhaust. So does that sound like a good setup? I'll have about 5 grand this summer, but i need to slap sum rims and tires, cf hood, and get my front and sideskirts redone (keepin it stock just gst/gsx skirts, no caps).

What do you think? If you have sume more ideas let me know.

edit: i drive an auto too

You drive an auto and its not turbo ... sell it and buy a turbo model. Then your possibilities are endless.

well i saw that one comin a mile away, how bout i cant afford the insurance else i woulda did that along time ago. Let's not start a war with this sell and buy a turbo. I know what you can do with a turbo car, i just cant afford it right now. So let me work with what i have, it will satisfy me just fine. I just want to know if what i posted earlier is a good setup.

Your gonna get that a lot having a non turbo. If you want some hp in your car, turbo is definitely the way to go. If its a future plan, then i would start workin on the engine to get it ready for boost. Pistons, rings, rods things of that sort, non turbo internals are really made for boost and need to be upgraded if your lookin to make good power.

that was an original thought

that sounds pretty good. he said forged internals in that, so it sounds like you will be ready for boost once summer rolls around(isnt it already here?) so that plan looks pretty good. you gonna go a bit lower compression? or run a higher compression lower boost style?

...Ya know I'm really getting sick of this board, rather quickly. Why do I find myself constantly having to explain the reason of my modding my NT?! This place so biast it's aggravating. I make one post in the Hang Out forum about racing my friends GSR and keeping up with it (which I thought was a pretty good accomplishment) and I get slammed for not having a 1st gen or 2nd gen GST/ GSX. Not one prop or at least "good shit". You'd think a mod would intervene at some point...

Getting back on subject (sorry or venting/rambling). It depends on what kind of internals your looking to do. You can go high compression and leave it all motor maybe touch 175-185whp and use the juice to break over 200. It'd be a quick little beast. Or you can take that 5000, rebuild your block with lower compression forged internals (shouldnt take more than 1500-2000g's for the whole job but you did say you dont have much support where you live), or order a ready to race block from Howell Automotive or Fasterthanyou.com and still have enough money left over to cop a HRC or STAR turbo kit w/ IC. Or you can do a little of both w/GSGoinfast's suggestion of higher compression and lower boost (I'd use a 16G or even a rebuilt, P&P, Clipped T25). It'd give you a quicker spool but with a higher compression ratio you wont be able to run much boost which in turn limits your HP potential. This is a quesiton all us NT driver's face when rebuild time comes knocking.

dont hold me to this but i believe that the hp thing kinda balances out. if you lower your compression, you can run higher boost, but you loose power from the initial loss of compression, and you dont gain as much power for each pound of boost. while with high compression, you cant run very high boost, but you gain power initiallly from the higher compression, and you gain more power for each pound of booost you run. i think they kinda even out.

Now don’t hold me to this but, theoretically if u lower compression you lose hp, but when you lower compression you more than likely do it because you are either boosted/are going to boost. When you raise your compression you gain 4% for every point raised.

right you gain 4%, but thats only 5.6hp for us... big flipping deal. but i believe you gain more for each pound of boost with higher compression than you do with lower
