Ok guys, Ive tried to get some help on this before and I did get some feedback but not too quite sure yet. I want to purchase a set of rims that will be good for both track and street....I found the ones I want but they only make them 18x8 and bigger. How bad of an effect will this have on my 1/4 mile times even with good tires, or what is a good setup to run other than drag radials, slicks, 15" rims. Any help be great, thanks.

Unless youre puttin down serious HP I wouldnt fork out the money to buy slicks and 15" rims. I would just get 17 or 18" rims with some good tires. I personally would go with 17 x 8 or 8.5. With good sticky street tires you should be just fine.

IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS RACER ONLY 17'S OR SMALLER WILL DUE.
BUT IF YOU WANT SOMETHING FOR SHOW OR JUST BETTER LOOKING
UP TO 19'S 7.5 WILL STILL FIT
IF YOUR CARS STOCK THEN GO WITH ANY 17 OR 18 CAUSE IT REALLY WONT MAKE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE
AN 8 OR 8.5 IN WIDTH WILL BE REALLY GOOD WITH STICKY TIRES REGARDLESS OF SIZE OF THE RIM

For street use I just use my kuhmo ecsta's but when going to the track I slip on a set of falken azenis and they seem to hook up a little better up front.

^ werd to what he said about the falken azenis for track use.........

i drove a 00' jackson racing supercharged si once, and that thing stuck like u wouldn't believe. definately w/e rim size u do end up goin' with, get falken azenis tires! :thumb:

Heard a lot bout the Falken Azenin's. Definately the tires I was going to go with, but what size? Im a noob when it comes to tire sizes and like I said I want some 18" rims, I know they will effect me in the track, but how bout the street, can I get descent traction from a stop or how bout some from a roll. The rims I want come only minimum size 18x8 PLEASE HELP

Falken Azenis are nice!! AS for your rim size, a little too big imo, but it might not be a bad deal.

(Like I really have room to talk, I'm running with 17X8s :shhh: )

I am running 225's on my 17x7 enkei 5+ and the Nitto Neo Gens will hook up on the track. Alot of people are running this wide of a tire on a 17x8 but it is not needed. Just have to ask the people you are buying the wheels from is all. I have babied the car so I can not say too much about it yet. I have yet to break loose in anything higher than 2nd gear with my 20G, and that is pretty impressive considering I would break loose before I changed out the stockers for this current setup.

After a few hours of fustration, I finally got the front and rear suspension done. I went with the TEIN S-TECH and TOKICO ILLUMINA all around. Hard rear and soft front. I will have more info on this after this weekend if it stops raining.:thumb:

Dude, you have to stop with the CAPS ON key. It is like you are YELLING in EVERY post!;) :p

if you want falken azenis go with the 17 inch rim as they don't make anything bigger, I have azenis on my car and once warm they do hook up nice, but the stiff side walls added to wheel hop alot on my car even with the motor mount inserts due to the sidewall not "giving" at all to absorb the energy which is not great for the drag strip, they are allso a lot heavier then most other tires. All in all for the price, i would buy them again.

AHHH I just decided that I was gonna get a set of Typhoons!!!

I would go with a 17x7.5 with a 225 tire, a 245 tire is pretty wide and you would probably have problems with rubbing.
