What should I do first?

Basically, I'm a 17 year old teenager, and my moonroof in my Eclipse GS is broken... What should I do? Should I repair the moonroof, or buy rims for my car first? The dealer says that my moonroof replacement will cost me anywhere from $700-$1200! Someone help me please!

Get a price from a mechanic other than the dealer, just see what they quote you for? Might be something much cheaper, a lot of times the dealership will really rack up the price, so i always cross check the prices i get from them with another mechanic just to be sure i am not being overcharged. I would fix the problems you have on your car now before you buy rims, just makes everything better when you can push all the buttons in the car and everything works how it is supposed to.

Thats happened to me before too. Go to a junkyard and find new rails or glass, depending on which is broken... Don't worry about rims yet, they'd be the last thing to get... Ever think of putting the rims off some time for a turbo?? ROFL

i went all appearance first, i did a body kit, interior work, system and all that. Then i went with a turbo kit and all the engine mods, now im re working my interior with all fiberglass and TV, DVD, PS2, and a gamecube. i would say go with what you feel is more important to you right away. if you think that the car needs a more appealing body style most of all (just an example, i know it doesnt NEED it) then go with body work, if you want a good quality stereo system go with an amp and speakers, if you think going fast is what you want, then go for the intake, exhaust, header, ignition, then turbo kit. Just find something you want to do and work on one area at a time. Oh and have fun doing it to, thats what tuning is all about, and winning shows :)

I agree with Blitzclipse. 700 to 1200 is way to much to fix the sunroof. Can't you find any friend's atleast that can do this stuff for you.

Yeah definately pricey on that. I would find someone local that could do the work for you, even if you bring it to a small body shop the work will be guaranteed and also the small shop will probably be quite a bit cheaper. This is of course after you ask around and see if someone you know can do it for you, or help you learn how to do it.

i learned that the dealer likes to replace things that dont need to be.
I bet that you could get the roof fixed at a local shop for a fraction of the cost.

first go get another price quote on that that seems really high, you can prob go to a junkyard and actually find the entire sunroof for alot cheaper. and spend a day taking yours out and replacing it, that way if the rims you want you can still afford you can get both. it's not to hard to replace the sunroof.

Thats exactly what I did. I got the sunroof with tints in mint shape for $80. Went home and put it on in 10 minutes. We had fun lighting the old sunroof up with paintballs, then smashing it ROFL LOL :D

You can get a brand new moon roof installed for $500????? Lol they are ripping ppl off

deff. dont pass up maint. on your car for somthing like rims. Be smart about it, save moeny, get estimates from different shops and pick one.

YO, im 17 too. I agree with everyone too on finding a better price on your moonroof. The dealership is definatly overpriced. I had checked out how much it would be for 2gb oem sideskirts and a spoiler, and it ended up being over $1700 without paint and without installation.
