i just bought my first DSM it is a 90 eclipse with supra tail lights right now it runs rough i am not sure if it is a vacuum leak but when you first start it up it will die it will do this until you hold the gas but when you let off it tries to die i have already replaced the little idler screw on the throttle body what else should i check

Run roughs eh? Well you could start by just doing general checks if you just bought the car. Ex. Air filter (Clean), plugs (inspect and gap), fuel filter (has it ever been changed?), check the base timing, I would do a boost leak check too, I seem to always find them. When you say it tries to die when you let off the gas it reminds me of when I left the hose to my pcv valve disconnected a couple years ago... car ran like crap. Maybe someone else will chime in and give some advice.

Do a boost leak test, then start regular maintenance, oil fuel filter, fuel pump, clean the injectors. It sounds to me like the TB screw isn't adjusted right, try screwing it out a little more and see how that goes. good luck. :thumb:

Definitely start with a boost leak test and go from there. Once you get the idle problem fixed your going to need to worry about the general maintanence like:

Fluids - Oil, Transfer Case, Trans (Looks like your FWD so scratch the T-case )
Air Filter
Plugs & Wires
Timing and Acessorey belts
Cleaning the TB

Thats just a basic list. Good Luck and Enjoy your DSM!

i know the head gasket needs to be replaced but will the little honeycomb in the air intake make it idol wrong i have neither if there on my car now which one do i need to replace held

Yes you need to have one of those honeycombs otherwise your mas is going to have issues measuring the incoming air. You want the upper one in the car, the lower one is better off removed. Trust me, I've tried it. I could barely get around the block with the upper one out. BTW your alternator will NOT make your car run rough. Fixing the headgasket would also be a good place to start if you know its not sealing right.
