Hi I just traded my esi for a tsi front wheel drive. Well ive been reading alot bout you need to buy a logger and safc and the MAF-T and I was wondering what would be the first direction to go. I have a turbo xs rfl bov and im planning on putting it on and venting it so im gonna be gettin the maf-t anyways pretty soon but i was wondering should i go ahead and get a logger also or should i get the safc first. Im thinkin the logger but i just want an opinion. A guy i know has a palm with palmstein on it for sale and i was wonderin bout that program also. i read its a free program. i have no clue and cant find any info on it. what all benefits can you get from a logger? whats a decent logger setup that wont break my wallet? thanks

Do a complete maintenance schedule before you modify it for performance. Replace parts/accessories that are worn/old.

I agree with aovsi. Cant really expect the parts to take the abuse from a little more power than they would if they were to break by just driving it.

Assuming the cars stock, youre probably going to want a boost gauge after maintenance. But yeah with those two items go with the logger.

Ok thanks guys Already got the maintenance part taken care of. Im not a complete newb LOL. but ive got a gauge and boost controller ordered. its a 10 dollar one off ebay. its manual. that should work good shouldnt it. What do yall think i should go for as a logger. Im not quite ready to fork out the cash for dsmlink yet. id like to have a color screen pda and i dont have a clue as far as what program to go with. any help would be appreciated.

a maft is definately not needed at your point. but if you really want to vent.........

id get

K&N intake kit(50 off ebay)
RFL BOV
hard upper and lower IC piping(dejon tool makes some specifically for maft users)
catback(2.5 or 3") with good muffler
ebay mbc
boost gauge
palm m505(color) with Pocketlogger setup
safcII(though zeroed out, not much tuning you can do to the stock injectors)

then start getting your fuel system in, since now you will be able to have the safc to control it.
255lph walbro
aeromotive fpr
at least 650cc injectors

also for the price of the palm, pocketlogger software and safc(which comes up to almost 500) you could ###### get dsmlink, and a little more for a eprom ecu presocketed. but you still need a laptop(unless you have one already). dsmlink is far better than a safc/logger combo, but it does cost. but it is soooo worth it.
