what other tire size I can fit?

Hey ya, I got these 17's and the tires are so small, they are 205/40/17. I need some thicker ones. Would 205/45? or 50's??? the reason i need thicker ones, bcz i broke one of my rims and the roads here are bad. so plz any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm using 215/45/17's, and don't have any problems at all on a 2" drop. However, I had some clearance problems after I installed camber kits in the back, but rolling the fenders (this was done professionally) solved the problem.
