2G What other mods can I do?

Ok. So I have my first eclipse. It's a GST. And I have about $1400 to start off with on mods and upgrades. So far I have a list of

-Turbo BoV + 2.5" Flange pipe
-New set of radial tires (Needed)
-Stage 3 Mitsubishi Eclipse Performance Chip
-Full Turbo Catback Exhaust System
-Turbo Air Intake
-Electric all in 1 Boost controller
-Triple guage pod with pods (including boost guage)

This is what I have so far on that list and expecting to have about $450 left and want to know what else I should add? Also with what I have on the list should it be ok to turn the boost up to 14psi?

That pipe is a pretty decent deal. It has all the fittings for emissions and whatnot too. I might even pick one up myself so thanks for the link. The filter will work for now, but I would suggest a K&N with MAF adapter kit. Here's the link to the one I use. Very easy to install and it's a great filter/adapter. Really opens up the intake. A bit pricey but it's a K&N so it could be the last filter you ever buy.

Here is DSMLink's website. I would suggest looking for the DSMLink chip and ECU used rather than from them if your on a budget. Since you have a 99, it's possible you have a black box ECU. These can be flashed without DSMLink. Here's the link to both. DSMLink requires an EPROM ECU (or EPROM converted) while Ceddymods/Evoscan only require a cable and a computer. Flashing is much cheaper than DSMLink, but quite a bit harder to learn.

Here some links to good gauges. I would suggest getting a triple pillar pod from ebay and then filling it with your own gauges.

(great for boost, water temp, oil pressure, etc)

And finally, the Hallman MBC. If your into the EBC's, the best place to look would be the classifieds. The legit electronic controllers can be very pricey brand new.

So that should get you started. Just be sure to research anything before buying. If you type "Innovate MTXL" into the search bar you'll find all the pro's and cons very quickly. Take your time, research/source the parts, and you'll avoid buying things multiple times. I know from experience buying parts over and over is a huge strain on the wallet and your time.

You have a 99 so you can just get the tactrix 2.0 cable and flash the ecu. IT will be a lot cheaper than dsmlink because you won't have to buy a 95 eprom ecu. You will just have to buy the cable and the logger software.

That list looks good to me. Just be sure and understand you also need an EPROM ecu that is socketed for the dsmlink. There are usually a couple floating around the classifieds here sometimes even full packages that include ecu and dsmlink. it will be an investment you won't regret though.

Also, I recommend the ebay exhaust by the seller "japanimportshop". Its about $200 shipped, and again, great product .

You may want to try some of the vendors on here and not always stick to ebay. I'm guilty of it, but Its great to support true dsm vendors and not wholesale dumpers on ebay. When you buy from dsm vendors you get support from the guys who have been doing this stuff forever.

Yes it does. Just be sure to specify which flange you will need for the bov and the maf.

WRONG! You CANNOT run a VRSF FMIC Kit without a down-facing compressor outlet, the T-25 does not point to compressor outlet in the correct direction, it points it to the passenger side of the car. If you would like to keep the stock T-25 and use this kit, be prepared to cut/weld the compressor outlet on the turbo.

The VRSF 2G FMIC was designed for any down facing turbo (50 Trim, FP Green, FP Red, Garret GT Series, ect..) but will fit any Mitsubishi (14b, 16g, 18g, 20g) with the use of a j-pipe. Garrett turbos such as the T-25 or T-28 can also fit with minor modificaiton (u-pipe or cutting the elbow and rewelding/coupling to face driver side).

IMHO, you do not need an FMIC when running the stock turbo on 14-15PSI.

here's a list of mods I think you should get if you want to run that 14-15PSI.

*ECMLink V3 (Full or lite) - one of the best investments any DSMer can make.
*New BOV, I personally recommend the HKS BOVs, they are great, and are designed to outlast any boost you can throw at them! Because of how they work, not manufacturing, tho they are top-notch quality too.
*MBC, that bleed-type will work just fine for you, or you can explore the Boost Control(WGS) features of ecmlink.
*Larger injectors. (only do this if you have means to compensate for them, using a tuning device ie, ECMLink,Blackbox+evoscan, MAFT, AFC controller, etc..)

To be fair, it is possible, just need a u pipe. But yes I agree that this intercooler is overkill with the stocker. As I said earlier, however, it would work well if the OP would get at least a 14b. It would run on stock boost until he learns how to tune. Then, with the other mods he's getting (gauges,mbc, dsmlimk, fuel, etc) he can safely up the boost. Gives room for growth, would work well for now as a direct bolt on (with an install kit of course), and also gives a way of learning how to tune and adjust according to additional mods.

Like they all said maintnence first, then i would go boost gauge, wideband, fuel pump, 550's, safc II, fmic, 1g bov (on craigslist for $20) and a 14b and your car would be running some pretty quick times for super cheap then when you can afford it get dsmlink and youd be golden

This is a very acceptable list. Except the SAFC-II, waste of time/money, especially since you'll likely upgrade to a better tuning option later anyway. GM MAF/MAF-T is probably a better option.

Exhaust-wise, on the cheap, look for an SRS catback ( full stainless steel ). They go for $199 shipped. And go to Megan for a downpipe. Less then $150 on eBay.

The maf translator does the same exact thing as the safc, it modifies the maf signal. The safc actually offers more range of tuning than the maft. Both are awful for tuning in my opinion.

The MAF-T can at least be used with ECMLink. SAFC cannot be used with other tuning options, and often times just gets in the f*cking way!

Lets make this simple. Here is what I would get if I were you:



Wideband - Innovate MTX-L: Let me google that for you

Get your triple gauge A-Pillar and get boost, and oil pressure gauges.

Rewire the stock fuel pump for a little better flow: 2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Rewire Instructions

Some 550CC injectors: Let me google that for you (only if you get a GM MAF/MAF-T)

Then there's these 2: JM Fab BOV Adapter (2G DSM/EVO) - Modern Automotive Performance & Mitsubishi OEM 1G DSM Eclipse & Talon Blow Off Valve

$1400 huh, get ecmlink eather v3 lite for $425 or v3 full for $525. Without tune you can throw on all your fancy parts but it won't run right. With a product like ecmlink you can do just about anything to your car. You can get a safc cheap but if you go that route do not exspect anything about 550cc injectors and like 15 psi on a 16g withouth safeley knowing whats going on without a logger. Anyways So I would look at a full tuning device and all your maintanance is done. Once those are done then anything will work oviously upgrade exhaust, intake and bov to start out with. Then turbo of your choice as funds go and injectors of your choice no bigger then 1000cc's for pump gas I would just get 1000's and call it good. But atleast start with those things at the begining and you will be on the right track.
