I need a complete engine and a local supplier has this exact engine except over the phone he told me he was sure it was a 7 bolt without checking though. Anyone know what motor this is out of? It has a 14b and red top injectors. Here is the exact engine except this guy says its a 6 bolt, im going to make the drive to check what the other engine is on monday http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-9...iewItemQQcategoryZ6755QQitemZ4582178040QQrdZ1

That motor looks like a regular 6 bolt off a galant. If It has 14b most likely its a 6 bolt. most 7 bolts came with silver valve covers like the 95-99 eclipse's If its a 7 bolt from japan it most likely came at of an evo 1-3 and it would have either a 16g or a evo316 turbo. keep us posted

That's not a JDM motor at all. You can tell because it's got the Emissions hoses up on the throttle body. Japanese motors only have one port.

Probably a 1992-1994 Eclipse motor if it's a 7 bolt. Not JDM at all, as if it mattered.

The CAS is the green one, didn't those come off 91's?

Not JDM, it would have the cyclone intake manifold also.

IMO, It doesn't look like anything special... In the 1st pic, it looks like the injectors are the blue top Denso 450cc injectors that are common in the US 1Gs. The "Red Tops" are actually the injector's plugs. Just click the LARGER PICTURE link and you will see what I am talking about.

No way is that thing a JDM motor, or even a motor from a Galant.
Firstly, JDM motors have the coil-pack in a different position to USDM and Aspec ones.
Second, Check out where the radiator cap is.

judging by the throttle body, I think it's a 90 eclipse engine. The 4 vacuum lines on the throttle body tipped me off

I would say its a 90 6 bolt USDM motor myself. Definatly not a JDM, like it matters. BTW unless you are desperate thats to much money for it.

The reason im looking for a jdm engine is because its more likely to be a complete engine which I need plus more likely to have lower mileage. The higher CR would be nice too. Anyway, thanks alot guys

Not really more likely to be a full engine...nor are you guaranteed that it has lower mileage. Besides the fact that most people in japan realize the car wont last long due to rigorous vehicle inspections, so they may just beat the crap out of it. 30k miles does you no good if it was constantly taken to redline. Just make sure when you are buying that you know exactly what it comes with. After buying a "jdm" engine myself, I found it way overpriced, and I suggest visiting karking.com as they have the best price ive seen for complete engines (block, head, manifolds, turbo). Last time I checked they had 6 bolts. On top of that they are 'rebuilt' (new seals and rings i believe - their site specifies somewhere what is included in the rebuild) and only $1150. Can't beat that IMHO for an easy swap.

Good Luck.

I'm definitely going to agree and say it's a US motor emissions wise.. probably a 6 bolt because of the green CAS, no MDP, and that manifold..

$1300 isn't bad for a engine and tranny.. if it comes with the one attached in the pic.. no guarantee about mileage or condition.. probably good for parts or a sick build though
