what is thr aem ems inital setup

Ok guys I call upon the dsm gurus once more. So my last thread everyone said for my next mod to buy dsmlink. Well I found a aem ems on the classifieds for 400 so I bought this instead. Knowing it is much harder to tune with but better in the long run I thought I'd jump on the deal. Now it comes in the mail in four days and I have no idea what to do for base settings. I know that even getting the idle right on this is tricky. I have a aem wideband and fic 550cc injectors other misc like e316g and mbc but what should I do after I install it before starting. I've searched around but can't really find much on these things. Car is a 97 tsi and it is the v1 ems
