I wish I had a camera to take a pic, but I took out my alternator today because it was pushing out 16.5-17 volts and causing my battery to boil over fluids.

In taking it out, there was a wire that was not connected to anything. The wire its self went from the alternator, to a bracket on the oil pump, then it seemed to go up a bit, where it stopped. It had a connector on the end, one of those flat metal ones. Hard to explain it.

Actually, it looks like this

The gold one.

I dont know where that connects too. There was another length of wire I found ripped and hanging under my bumper also, but It may be for the AC fan, I am not sure.

With that being said, my only known issue is the alternator pushing too many volts, could any of those be part of the cause, or is it just a bad alternator? Replacing it either way, but just need to know where that wire goes : \

It is a good chance the alternator is bad, but did you check the voltage regulator? Maybe that wire went to it.

Where is teh actual voltage regulator?? I thought it was in the alternator? Is there a wire for it?

Yes the voltage regulator is in the alternator. But you have a hot post that goes to the battery a post for ground and a plug to the regulator. Could that wire go to any of them? I am not sure what picture your looking at to see what wire your looking at. Did you get your alternator tested? Sorry it took so long to get back to you my internet went down.
