so i got a good deal on a 1g block and since my 7 bolt has 915xx on it i figure it wont hurt to build the 6 bolt and pop it on.

1. i was wondering if anyone sells rebuild kits for the 1g blocks and where to get them.

2. the block spun a rod so what would i need to get done (i figure i need to machine the crank)

3. what do i need to modify to get it to bolt up.

4. would it be worth throwing in 2g pistons for the higher compression?

i plan to get like 350 hp on the motor and its a street car.

1. Yes. Parts dinosaur is a good place, ebay can be too.

2. You need the crank and the rods machined. I've heard that when they spin a bearing bad, the rod is never the same, but I don't know about that. People will also tell you not to turn the crank, but mine is turned and I have no problems. The claim is that the hardening process will be weakened, but the process goes much deeper than what is machined off, and you can have it re-done.

3. Drill out the head bolt holes, that's about it.

4. I think so, I think higher comp would be fun.
