k I have a 97 Gst. The issue I'm having at the moment is the ignition fuse blowing as soon as you turn the key to "run" (not acc or start). When you turn it to ACC it's fine...but as soon as you turn it to run it blows! This is before you even crank it.

This occured after installing a boost gauge. I couldn't find a 12v ignition source besides the one that goes to the ignition switch. So, i hooked it up there. Car started fine. Shut it off, then started it again and it shut off by itself after a couple seconds.

My Diagnosis so far:
-Disconnected all the fuses besides the ignition fuse.
-Ran a wire directly from the switch to the ignition switch (white)
-Replaced the ignition switch b/c I thought it was shorted but that ended up not being it.
-Took the dash out to see if I accidentally damaged a wire while running the wires to the kick panel with a wire hanger but I haven't found any damaged wires.
-I did install HID's on the car too but again, the fuses are all out! What's the deal? It can't be the headlights b/c the fuse blows b4 I turn on the headlights.

I'm at a complete loss! The car is in a billion pieces and I can't keep buying those damn fusible links!!!

Any ideas? I've tried everything

the previous owner already had tapped that wire for some reason I figured it would be an easy to place for power.

I completely disconnected the gauge to narrow down the problem so it's not connected anymore. Any wires that were touched were wrapped up. So I'm at a loss.

Have you tried wiring everything back the way it was before you wired in the BG? Does it work perfectly again? If so then use a different power source like Imback mentioned.

Also check your battery terminals for corrosion. My car will die like yours when I turn the key to start if the terminals are too corroded. Hence my next battery will be a deep cycle.

yeah everything is back to normal except for the projector headlights and HID's. I'm about to take that off for the hell of it.

The boost gauge is OFF and the wiring is back to how it was pre-gauge.

let me know if you guys have any other suggestions.

thanks!

I had this happen once before on my 2g not sure if it would be the same for your 1g. One of my wires near the solenoids were exposed to the hood (metal) causing the ignition fuse to blow. Check for any wires that might be exposed. I don't think it was a wire from the solenoid area, just in that region.
