I've heard the term a lot and I know its bad, but what is it really?

Is it kinda like a poser in skating?

Or a car thats all show and no go?

Or just one thats kinda upgraded, but not very much?

I have no idea . . .

its a combo of these two

kinda like a poser in skating + a car thats all show and no go

so if you just make the car look good and it cant perform than its a ricer?

bascially yes. however the term get thrown around a lot these days...a v8 guy calls any 4 banger a ricer, tuners call ricers all show and no go cars...anyway, this thread will be locked soon but now you have your answer

if you think that that 500 dollar bomex body kit that's still not painted gives you 50 horsepower, you're a ricer. If you add a Cold Air Intake, and think it gives you the right to pick on Mustangs, you might be a ricer. If you find the biggest exhaust tip there is, and stick it on your stock muffler, you're a ricer. If you think a Saturn is fast, you might be a ricer.

Please, think of the children. :thumbdown :thumbdown

Hehe, but if I just make my car the best I can, I guess thats all that matters. Its like when your 7, its not win or lose, its how you play the game.

Wow, that post was totally irrelavent . ..

wings + body kits + stickers + the driver's belief that his car is fast when it isn't = ricer

if you actually have a show car then i guess thats not rice. its when you pretend that your car with an intake and a body kit is fast that makes you a ricer.

I don't necessarily agree. There's a lot of cars out there that people poured a lot of money into to make them look good, but it's more like an art. It looks good ... so I think of it more like when you add stuff that just looks tacky. Like throwing a huge muffler or a huge spoiler on the back. I really don't think it includes certain people; for example, people with completely redone interiors. They put just about as much work into their car as tuners put making their car faster. Think, if you were to go up to a car and say "wow, that looks really good. They did a great job!" or "wow, that looks lame. That spoiler is taller than their roof." ... that's kind of the difference.

Oh and sound systems don't count. I f'n hate subwoofers with annoying bass. But overall, I think most outside improved cars look tacky, so there's few cars like that that wouldn't be called rice by my standards.

Damnit folks, we have rules and a search function for a reason. :shhh:
