non-ricer muffler

I was wondering what muffler has a 3" inlet that isnt too loud. I live in an apartment complex and leave for work at midnight and dont wanna piss off the neighbors. I wanted to go with magna-flo street series but they are all 2.25 inlet. The set up i will be running is- megan downpipe and im going to have the exhaust shop cut that before it necks down to 2.5 again and bend a 3in from there to the muffler. Ive seen some on ebay but need first hand experience with mufflers that people have used. Any input would be great.

My Apex'i N1 was not excessivley loud WITH the silencer. I have since taken it out, but with it in, people shouldn't complain about the sound.

Usually annoying sounding mufflers wont be 3" inlets. These are usually for respecable cars with turbo - or massive compression.
It shouldnt be too loud becuase the turbo will silence it some when your not on it all the time. So idle should be to a dull rumble.

Like the above any 3 inch you get inlet muffler will sound like a nice rumble, so I wouldnt worry about it, mine is so quiet unlike my friends who has no cat on his....now thats loud.

Magnaflow mufflers are the quietest performance mufflers I've heard....

my friends talon runs 11's and still not very loud

thanks for the input i think im going to go with a megan racing muffler since i already have a megan downpipe and they have mufflers with a 3" inlet.

most exhuasts on our cars are really not that loud, unless you got all kinds of motor work done, plus cams, and your pushing a good 400+ hp, then it starts to get a little loud even yet they arent to bad. simply cause of the turbo, dont worry ******your****** car isnt gonna sound like a honda civic with a 4" catback from ricezone

+1 on the Apexi N1

First looking at it I was like whoa this is gonna be loud, but after install it really isn't noticably loud. The exhaust I used to have on my integra would set off car alarms

the 3" catback I have isn't loud at idle or low rpm...it doesn't have a cat either, but it really isn't that loud til 3500 to 4000 ...other than that, it's just a nice gurgle

The exhaust i have has a magna flow muffler and it rumbles low, but, it does get deep, bassy, and loud when you get on it not to mention the jet engine sound of the turbo. Ahhhh im in love with turbos!!!!! whooooshhh

im partial to Flowmaster's 40 series, i had one on a V6 Lebaron, it had a very distinctive sound a "me" sound if you will, same with my flow on my talon, i guess im just obsessed.

I have a magnaflow muffler with 3 1/2" turbo back. The larger pipes make it quieter too. Nice and deep.

I have magnaflow street series 3" inlet dual 2.5" outlet. Got it off ebay 100 shipped. Sower23 said it perfect and I love mine. It is loud since I have no cat or test pipeand I have a Megan DP also. You can hear the turbo whisle just sitting and reving a bit. The 3" inlet magnaflows are all over the place on ebay. Just type in 3" magnaflow and voila the non ss ones are about 85 shipped. There is a clip of what mine sounds like in the lounge

+1 For the megan racing Muffler I have the MN1 Muffler with Megan Racing Downpipe no car and it is quiet and deep, my only concern was that is sounded funny cause it was so deep but then watched numerous DSM videos and realized that is how its supposed to be.

My buddy has a 3" Thermal R&D setup on his '98 GSX and it is super-quiet at idle and sounds very crisp and sharp when it's revved out. I don't mind the noise, so my car is kinda on the loud side but in my opinion his sounds very good, too. Check out the video section, there is a thread titled "Post exhaust clips here." You'll find a ton of different videos with everyones setups. A car with 3" exhaust will never be "quiet," just very deep and mellow.

thanks for the tip on the magnaflo mufflers with the 3" inlet on ebay chicagoavenger. I was looking on jegs and had seen that all they had were the 2.25 inlet and figured thats all there was. guess that shows me. Im going with one of them i had a magnaflo catback on my 00 gt and it was great, even though it will sound nothing like that. and thanks to everyone else for the help.
