I'm looking for a new nice intake manifold. I do not want to bore my stock one. I was at first leaning towards the venom, but i'v read that its not a good fit, and that it cracks. I was then looking at the skunk 2 and herd that it to was crappy. i had also researched my other manifolds and came to the same conclusion. so if you guys could give me some insite to what would be a good purchase, and money is not a problem. Thanks bye

and why not bore out your stock one? Other than different looks there isn't gonna be much difference in performance with aftermarket and bored out stock one. How much do they go for anyways ( venom, skunk)?

Its not my first mod, and i dislike boring, not as good air flow and weighs more!

update profile, i wouldnt buy a after market manifold..youll get minimal HP out of it and its gonna cost like hundreds. I always just tell people to not mess with the ricer crap and save up for a turbo kit.

I'm not to interested in updating profile because i care little about braging, I mainly created this user so i can talk to you guys. The weight diffrences are pretty significant wouldn't you say? how much does it cost to bore the manifold?

The profile isnt for braggin, its so people can help you better cause they have some kinda idea about whats going on.

I dont really know how much less a aftermarket maninfold would weigh, someone else may though. They did a test on a bunch of different ones, some thread around here covers it..i dunno if the results would apply for non turbo or not though..

the thread regarding the intake manifolds which u are talkin about was on a turbo dsm. It can be found in the 4g63 Engine Performance section, altho i dont see how it would apply here. IMO i would port&polish ure stock manifold, but thats jus me

it's probably cuz you can't bore, I don't mean to just bore out the tb opening, I mean to bore out the runners and them smooth them out, and bullshit on the
not as good air flow
, if you port it accordingly to the specs you'll see the same gain as aftermarket. I'll give you credit on the weight issue but that's about it.

Extrude hone the stocker.

The only aftermarket intake that is being offered is the Venom intake manifold. Which I heard and read was not good.

Search for yourself to find out more.

There is one being offered by Fast Fabs.(?) but it is only the top plenum(?), not the whole mainfold. IMHO isn't worth the price tag they're asking for.

Even with the Venom manifold, the throttle body will still restrict air flow. If you're looking to spend a lot of money just buy a jeep throttle body, port your manifold to match it, and then put it on.

Hes asking about the IM.

But the stock TB would do fine but if you do want to change it, I would go with the Modern Performance 60mm Tb.

Ok first off, you dont bore a manifold. You can bore out an engine block, throttle body, and throttle body opening on the plenum. You can port (remove material) the runners thus making them bigger. You also can polish the runners\plenum to promote air flow.

You have 4 choices when it comes to 420A manifolds:

1-Port your stock manifold - this sucks because the manifold is shaped like the letter 'C' therefore you will only be able to reach about 1-2inches up into the runners, which are 12.5 inches long. And i doubt you will be able to even touch the plenum.

2-Extrude Hone\Port the stock manifold - this is good because it will get the flow of the runners equal, this setup should give gains throughout the entire powerband. Extrude honing promotes velocity more so than volume.

3-Venom Intake manifold - everybody says this manifold is crap, but everybody use to think the world was flat also. Every dyno I have seen of this manifold resulted in minimal torque loss with decent midrange and good top end. For some odd reason everybody says it is a POS, because their friend of a cousin's sister's, brother's little son said so.

4-Fast Fabs Plenum - this plenum bolts onto our lower stock runners. This cuts down the runner length to 8 inches. The plenum will flow better than the stock plenum but it uses stock runners. So porting the runners (2inches from head side and 2 inches from plenum side) should give gains.

There is no need for a intake manifold on a 420a eclipse\talon unless you have drastically increase power\air flow into the engine. This can be done with cams or turbo, so unless u have either of those two items, dont waste your money.

well i found a venom intake manifold for only $350 shipped. so i'll be putting that on relativly soon. once i do i'll put a post telling what i thought. Finally it wont be a coment from my sister's boy friends best friends big brother. thx for the input!!

350 for a manifold thats way to much.. Extrude hone is the route to go. id rather pay the extra hundred for that. Flows better and since its stock you know itll align back up. I had mine hand ported when i had my head ported. But i had those done cause i went turbo.

when u get the venom manifold. Take a few measurements for me. Plenum length, width, diameter. Runner lenght, width, diameter, ect... Thanks
