Hi,

I'm going to install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge (electric). I have a new sending unit and gauge. I want to just install one sending unit, so I understand that gauge in the cluster will no longer work. My question is, would this make the engine light to come on?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for a quick reply. But what is a "dummy light wire"?

On your oil filter housing you should have your stock sending unit (facing the rear of the car) your oil feed line (coming off the front) and next to that is a smaller "sending unit looking" thing. That is your dummy light. And all it does is send a signal to the light in the gauge cluster to warn you when you have low or no oil pressure!

OK. I'll make sure to leave it be. I assume that the dummy light unit is not part of an oil pressure sending unit.

Thank you very much sir. Picture always helps. :thumb:

Why not just pull the dummy light sending unit an put the aftermarket gauge there?

That's what I did...

Lol all you all need are an to npt tees, I have all the stock gauges / lights working with my 150 psi AEM oil pressure gauge.

I just want to have one sending unit there. I want to see if it is possible to do this without triggering the engine light or any other warning light. If it's not possible, I could go with the tees method. :hmm:

If you're putting in a new gauge, then why would you care if that light came on?

I guess I'm an anal. I don't want to see any warning light in my cluster.
