basically I bought the car with a 1gina2g. Based on this, what generation alternator do I have installed on the car?

No way to know. Go outside and check.
You should have a 2G alternator since they are ECU controlled on the 2G.

So if I have a 2G ECU I should theoretically have a 2G Alternator?

Whoever did the swap could have used all 1g parts in the process as well.

I tried contact the guy but I always catch him at bad times.

More than likley it is a 2g alternator. The only diffrence is the plug I think. Switching to a 1g would be a pain, he probably just used the one that was on the car.

Is there anyway to check which gen it is externally? Without having to take things apart?

No. Just pop you hood and zoom in on it and take a pic. That should be enough.

Im almost 100% sure it has a 2g alternator tho.
