What Filter To Put On AEM Cold Air Intake ?

I just chose the cheapest filter I could find being that the filter was always exposed to the elements just behind the front bumper. I'd only get a year or so out of a filter before the mesh screen would rust away.

It should be known that the AEM intake did nothing to make a noticeable increase in power, and actually hurt my fuel mileage in all but perfect weather conditions because it required more fuel to warm the air entering the engine. I put the stock airbox back in place with a drop-in K&N panel filter and the mileage came back.

The AEM intake looked cool with the hood lifted; aside from that it was a complete waste of money. Perhaps it would be required if my car was built and tuned to the ragged edge, but on an otherwise stock 420A you'll notice nothing.

oh i see... I had the impression that the AEM intake helped your performance if you have a high flow exhaust with it..

I also have the aem intake 21-430r that mounts the filter under the front bumper. In two years i have replaced the filter 3 times the last time i went with the aem dryflow filter. But still i agree it is a lot of work for the little hp-gain
