What ECU can i use in my car?

ok i have diagnosed that i have a bad ecu after having to spark and the car not being able to start.. i want to know what kind of ecu i can replace mine with. I have a 91 FWD 5 speed from california.

can i replace it with any ecu 91-94 or just FWD 5 speed? and does it need to be a CA emmisions ecu or not? i need to know asap so i can order one thanks alot.

Most likely you will have to use the California model. However, if one is available, try it and see what happens. I've used auto pcm's in manual trans eclipses and they worked ok as far as I coud tell. California has much higher emissions standards than the rest of the country hence California car.

it wont matter whether the ecu is for a fwd turbo 5spd or an awd turbo 5spd just make sure its an CA emissions ecu if u want to be able to pass emissions

and like old mitsu tech said above its possible the turbo auto ecus CA might work as well.

The only thing that matters is that you get the ecu with the CA emissions control on it and that it is for a 1g dsm. Out side of that it doesn't make any difference. I would get the Eprong though. It is worth it. One other thing, when you put it in and start it up, it will run bad for a few mins and then it will be fine. The ecu just has to set itself for your engine. Hope that helps.
