Let me put it this way. My car is making alot more power than it should, i only have an intake, catback, hardpipes and a bov and i know i should be making about 190 or so whp, maybe less. Knowing this, the car right now is making about 230 to 250 whp maybe more . Other people who have driven my car or seen it running say the same thing. No one believes those are the only mods i have done . Any ideas on what i should check ? Comments will be appreciated.

Yeah, there's something definitely wrong with that car, it's way too fast.

I can do you a favor and trade you my na 93 Talon or my 88 CRX Si for it. They're both a lot slower and you won't have anything to worry about. The Talon doesn't actually move on it's own, so as long as you decide not to put it on an incline or anything, that car will last forever.

Good job posting about the rolling start too, what highway did you do that on?

Since were not allowed to talk about street racing here, I bet your would get alot more views it you changed the thread title to something like what did the last owner mod on my car to make it so fast? Pics inside THen grab some pictures of the engine bay, turbo, IC, fuel rail.....stuff like that.

You could have a t-28 and a supra sidemount and a chipped eprom for your aftermarket injectors and not know it. I bet the dealer woule not know unless they were told.
Anyways Im saying dont post street racing and change the thread title with pics and you will get way more responces.

One thing is the power to weight ratio.
The DSM is around 2700lbs stock. The rs4 and LS1 is about 3600 and 3300 respectively. That would be a huge advantage in take off, even from a rolling start. plus it depends on how far you raced. 110 120 mph? Race another DSM from a standstill. That should give you a better comparison.
Gearing has way too many variables between the different makes where a rolling start is pretty inconclusive. Not to mention exprience.

First thing would be to check the boost level as you mentioned though. Then check the turbo to see if it's stock.

That would be effin sweet dude. I've always wanted to find a "stock" car that was actually nutz out.

The DSM is around 2700lbs stock.

Where did you get this info. 2700lb would be a stripped to hell DSM. Mine is stripped an weighs in at 2880lb. Stock 1g's weigh about 3100 or a little more. I also think the 2g is around 3200lb

I used to work at a truck stop and have weighed many DSM's

Next time I get my buddies scales (I race circle track in CT), I'll have to throw my talon on to see for certain. Were the DSM you weighed with the peson in it? AWD maybe? ABS, Auto, AC might play a factor too. The AT is at least 150lbs more...
My race car is 3100 lbs and it's allot harder to push in my driveway than the DSM.

But I got the numbers from here. It states 2789

My brothers car weighs 3100 empty, nothing striped, manual and AWD. Mine is 2880 empty, AWD, manual. I removed AC, power steering, sound dampening material, front cross member, cruise control, front pop up light motors and brackets, heat shields on drive shaft and some other little stuff I cant recall. We had lots of people wiegh there cars becuase it was next to the Air Force Academy and the cadets would get paid for every pound of stuff they moved when they where transfered and all DSM's weighed over 3000lb

i would post more pics but i guess im already using up the max space allowed to me.. any clues from those pics?and yes it weighs about 3100 pounds and its an auto ...

My car is 2700lbs with me not in it. Add 155 and the total is 2855lbs.

"With a curb weight of just 2,745 pounds and 190 hp, it was no surprise that Motor Trend's test GS Turbo was a speedy little thing. It ripped to 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 15.9 seconds at 90.3 mph. Not bad for a front-drive car in the early '90s."
Taken from http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=103709. Inside the drivers door there is a sticker that says curb weight. Mine says 2810GVW, i got power everything and a/c so i guess that adds to the base model.

Have you actually been in a fast car before? I know some people think DSMs are fast because they come from slower cars. Not to offend you or anything. Does it idle lumpy or is the tailpipe coated with lead?

How do you know it has 230-250hp?!?! The way you made it a range - it seems to me as you're guessing..

If you're guessing, then this thread has no point.

im guesstimating based on the fact that i can run almost head to head with a chipped, turboback audi rs4 and stay pretty close to a firebird ws-6

First, 1g fwd's weigh about 2700lbs, 1g awd's weigh around 3100lbs, 2g awd's are ovr 3200.

Second, 2g's make 210hp at the crank stock, the mods you've done could get you to the 230-250 crank hp level easily.

I see nothing there amazing, just a T25 with some decent mods on it. Sounds totally normal to me.

Thanks for clearing up the issue on the weight factor. I never knew a FWD weighed 400lb lighter. Sounds like a lot.

And also I bet the WS-6 was playing with you. Look at my mods and my buddys WS-6 pulls barely on me.

Without cams or turbo upgrade that still would not do to much

haha...you'd be suprised..my head is ported and polished and i'm runnin the Stocker turbo, plus a few other bolt ons and before the port and polish, its like night and day...

Wel I have to post this cause well I just get annoyed when people say ws-6 like its faster than any other model v8 fbody. ws-6 is just a suspension package which makes them heavierLOL. and there is a big difference from a lt1 to ls1 fbody

Thanks for telling ppl this, I dont know why ppl think fwd dsms weigh over 3000, thats only the awd, thats where the awd have a disadvantge, and thats one of the reasons why they say fwd models have more top end.

Now as far as it feeling fast, maybe you didnt realize that is the speed the dsm is suppose to be, unless you have dyno numbers backing up that hp statement,
and that car can have anything from port n polish, cams, to higher comp pistons, to bigger injectors and more boost ( if you dont have a aftermarket boost gauge) as in the reason why its faster than you think it should be...
Try to follow up with the originial owner of all what was done to the car.:thumb:

That is not true at all. A stock LS1 has 305hp 320lb and the Ram Air package along with a little higher flow exhaust boost the power to 320hp and 345lb. Also has a power steering cooler, hurst shifter, better tires. Not much better but still not just a suspension package.
