what color to paint my gsx

i have a 95 gsx and its in need of a paint job but i cant decide what colors to go with.

im stuck between

panda (black roof white everything else)
red n black panda bottom red roof black
solid red i'd want a darker kind of red but i dont want it to be dull
solid black

if anyone has paint codes for paint they think i would like id appreciate it

most engine components are red alot with couplings i have gray clothe interior but hoping to change that soon but unsure about that also

I personally think a 2 g looks best in either white or silver.
Those 2 colors show the 2g's curves the best.

I wouldn't paint it if I were you. If I could go back in time and get back the money I paid for my "paintjob" on my 95gsx I would. You will never get the money back out of the car and unless you're spending 3500+ on your paintjob it will probably not meet your standards.

If you're deadset on getting it painted I would go with red/black two tone from a reputable paint shop with a warranty.

If you're going to keep the 2ga body style I say daytona blue is nice, white or black.

i have some white left over from prev owner(about 3/4 gal.) and its all white now but i feel its too plan also im having a friend paint it, it wont cost that much and the paint on it now is in NEED of paint

how much paint does it roughly take to paint one of these cars?

What color is it now? I would just respray it the same color as it is. It will cost much less than having to paint all of the door jambs and engine bay and all of that. Just my .02

its white but like a pearl white and the front n back bumper were just painted when i bought it 3 weeks ago so there a different kind of white like straight white really white white but the reason i dont like white is because it seems plain thats why i thought of the panda to change but itd be cheap but the whole car needs painted theres bubbles on almost every panel and white gets dirty really quick but i wash my cars pretty often

I agree with black widow, paint it the same color, a nice clear and clayed and you'll be amazed on the results.

It depends on how good you are. Better painters can make it look good with fewer coats, if your friend knows how to paint he should have a better idea.

+1 on the red and black. I am a big fan of two tone but whatever you think looks good is what you should go with. Try photo shop to get a better idea.

Pearl white would look good.

i have no idea about anything dealing with paint or photo shop but could i get an estimate on how much paint it would take and roughly how much paint is im trying to find out how that is and im having a difficult time im using the ptipaint.com but its confusing me i really do like red and black but depending on price my car needs a complete overhaul so im kinda broke but paint is important i wouldnt say my buddy is the best but he knows what hes doing

We can't really tell you how much paint you will need there are too many factors. Skill level is the first and most important as I said before however you need to know...
Are you going to prime it?
What kind of primer (epoxy based?)
What kind of paint?
What brand of paint? (more expensive paints cover better)
What looks "good enough" for you?
Are you changing colors?
How many years do you want out of it?
and i could go on. What I can tell you is buy a half gallon of clear coat spray 3 layers on after the paint and don't look back. Other than that it is impossible to guess how much paint you will need.

the paint is coming off the side skirts the hood has bubbles and the hatch has so rust

if you guys could give me some points and info on what kind of paint and primer would be best id really appreciate at im trying to figure out how much paint is going to cost before i tell him i for sure want it painted im 19 ive never had one of my cars painted before so i dont know anything at all about paint thanks for helping me fellas and id be happy if the paint looks good for 2yrs after that id probly do some major changes to the car

I would definately go for red with a black roof. Look at gofer's profile, he has the nicest looking 2g in my opinion, and make sure that you will be keeping this car for a decent amount of time because a good paint job is a big investment. I would make sure that the car is mechanically sound first and I would not go for a cheaper paint job just to hold you over, you wont be saisfied. If you have to wait and save it is well worth it in the long run. If you know anyone who can help you that will also be a great help because if you can do the prep work on your own it will save you some money. Good luck.

Not to sound rude but shouldn't your painter buddy know the answer to all these questions? Most painters use a specific paint, primer brand that they are familiar with as they all lay down differently with different drying times etc. You need to decide on color and he should pick up all the supplies IMO.

Agreed... again. My brother is a painter and if all painters are like him they are very picky about the way the car is prepped and what primer/paint combo is used.

What you should probably do is take it to a auto paint store (NOT a store like Napa, NOT an auto PARTS store) and ask them what they recomend. They can look at the paint to see what condition it's in and recomend what type of primer you use. Just be careful and prep it right. Read untill your eyes bleed and use google to find some good how to sites. Just be warned if you primer your car be prepared to finish it. Most the paint shops in my area use epoxy based primer and they recomend spraying paint within 48 hours of spraying primer with that type of primer. So if you use a different type of primer and decide you don't want to finish the project your worse off because they will have to sand your car down again. So to sum up... take it to a auto paint store and listen to what they tell you. Also take pictures so we can see your progress good luck!
