Not offended at all. It goes hand-in-hand with the idea that most people who reflexively say that you should never cut OE springs have no real understanding of suspensions.

Many innovations in the history of Man have come from people trying to solve a problem without using an OTS solution. Some have come from people trying to create a novel and cheaper solution to a problem. But, in practice, you often need two things to be truly creative: the idea, itself, and the ability to ignore the Great Unwashed when they tell you that it won't work or that you shouldn't do it.

I hope your comment wasn't aimed at me as my knowledge of suspension has come from my autox, road course racing, and FSAE experience. I would take a spring that offers stiffer rates suitable for the valving on your current shock that not only applies the right drop but also increases handling and comfort. If and that is a big if done right yeah a cut spring will offer a lower ride but that is about it. The OP is the only one who can answer the question on what he wants. Not all springs are created equal and that is why I recommend swift.

Hope all you wish.

Cut OE springs will (a) lower the CG, decreasing weight-transfer and, therefore, increasing total lateral grip, (b) increase the spring-rate slightly (as in: slightly helpful, but not so much as to overwhelm the OE shocks), and (c) get your 2G more front camber, which it is dying for. It does this for pretty close to only the cost of the new alignment.

Yeah, there are better options. But there is no other option that comes close to this in terms of bang-for-the-buck.

But you are getting off topic here as the thread isn't titles "Best bang for the buck suspension upgrade." He asked what coil overs to get and the answer for him is simply none. But what he does have is enough money for a nicer set of springs and a good alignment.
