What class do 2Gs fall into with Autocross and Road racing?

Sorry but im thinking id get thrown to the dogs if go with this setup that I might buy...

Freinds selling a 2G with a 57trim,2.3 stroker,272cams,front mount, feul mods etc

Nothing crazy, but im going to assume this is going to put me into high classes in both areas of racing?

Im having a hard time finding the rules, Auto Cross seems to be the ticket since its less harsh on the car, and there is alot of local stuff going on from what ive been told...

Yes this is a very general blunt typing of what the car has, but I cant rember everything off the top of my head right now
 
In SCCA autocross the car is in "SM" class, your region might have an "SMS" like Mavisky's that is for street tired SM cars otherwise your in a class that can be very competitive in some regions.

Can't help you much on the road racing class, maybe in the PT category you'd be a "PTB" or so??
 
Im going to assume you have to buy the rule book and not much is posted online?

The nice thing about NASA road racing is that you get the car re-classified when you change the turbo or stroke the motor. They require this since you could potentially make way more horsepower than is deemed exceptable for the points it would take to do it.

You send in three similar dynographs and your competition weight for this reclassification. Check the rules as they're explicit about this process. They then reclass the car based on weight to power ratio.

After being assigned a new class, you then add your points for suspension, brakes, tires, aerodynamics, etc. to find your new class.

The best thing to do is find the competition weight and mods that will be assessed points. Then email the series director that will be assigning the new base class for you. He will then tell you the horsepower limit for each class taking into account your other mods (basically algebra). It might be 300hp for TTB, 350 for TTA, and 390 for TTS. Armed with this knowledge you can go to the dyno and have it tuned for a few hp under this limit. Now the car is built to the limit of the class giving you the best possible advantage.

In SCCA if you have anything modded dealing with the turbo (even an MBC) then youll be in SM. If you gut the interior then youll move to a prepared class, DP maybe?

With the 57trim youll have too much lag to be competitive on most courses. Even with the EvoIII I get stuck down in the bottom of 2nd and cant get into power quick enough.
