I'm sorry, but I just don't see this anyway possible unless you have some kind of forced induction...What are your mods??????
Its very simple, a 99 eclipse stock 0-60 is about 8.7 sec. and with speed shifting you can gain about 2-3 tenths if you know your car well enough and know exactly when to do this, these cars i've been up against it really has been simple. its been from a dead start to about 70 mph.

I'll go ahead and call BS on this one. Vtec Preludes and Integras are not only several hundred pounds lighter, but also make 35+ more ponies. These cars run low to mid 15's with a decent driver, which would even be close race for a GST. They would wipe the floor with anything less of a substantially modified NA DSM. I seriously doubt you could even beat a non-vtec version without being mildly modified. So tell us all again how a DSM that runs high 16's (stock) pull of these amazing feats??

My roommates girlfriend has got a 2000 honda prelude vtec with a auto and the tiptronic transmission. We race and fool around just about every other day, my top end is 138mph hers is only 132mph granted to about 110 she can kill me but when were hittin 50-60 mph i still have her by a quarter panel. now my redline is not 7000 rpm its been adjusted and now it is govern at 8200 is now redline with no aftermarket parts not yet at least.

how is it that you are the only guy on here to have raised the rev limiter? i brought that up a long time ago and they claim it isnt very easy. anyway why do you bring up your top speed when about 99.9% of the people on here are talking about 1/4 mile racing. and yes, you are full of sh!t to claim you beat a gsr with a rs. ill give you that you might be able to hang with the auto prelude but not the gsr sorry.

how did you raise your rev limiter to 8200, i would love to raise my rev. limiter but i've been told the highest you can go is 7800 because of an ignition cut that is put in there as a second safety over the 7200 fuel cut. Just curious on how you did this because i would love to get my rev. limiter up to 9 or 10k, or even higher. I know that hondas with new cams, springs, retainers, and a new computer can easily and safely raise their rev. limiter to 12k, that would be awfully nice.

i wouldnt say easily and safely but yes they can be raised that high, safely and easily i would say 9800 rpms would be the limit. after that things are spinnin way to fast to be safe and easy.

Maybe you could possibly hang with an Auto Prelude but
the manual trans. would wipe the floor with you.
My Cougar is modded like crazy and it still comes down to a drivers
race when my friend and his 97 Lude with AEM CAI, plugs and plug wires
race. That's at the track on the street I wipe the floor with him

Track I get major wheel hop (sticky surface) on the street I spin
for a bit and take off.

if you get cams, springs, and retainers that are rated at say 15k, 12k shouldn't be a problem. I understand what you are saying though, that supporting mods will make raising a rev limiter much safer, and a really, really good modification. It is probably one of the best modifications that can be done but is definately the most overlooked and underused.

just a question what springs are rated at 15k? the spoon engine that you can buy is fully built race engine that they say will only last like 5000 miles without a tune up. it only spins to 12k. i guess if you built the engine to be a high spinning one it could be done.

well if the redline is 12k the springs are rated higher than that, probably 13, 14 or maybe 15, you know what i'm saying though

What a load of crap.....a stock GSR runs high 14's with a normal driver...no RS/GS that isn't turbo, on nitrous, or has a built motor (all motor) could even remotly touch a GSR. Heck a stock GS-T can barley hang. No offense but this isn't the forum to BS.

:D Hey guys, I was the one who started this thread cuz I wanted to know what I could beat. I went ahead and had a couple of races since that's the real way to find out. I did wipe a couple of EX's, the new Civic hatchback (not the SI ) was not that easy to beat though, I did get a Mazda MX-6 (sh!tty driver I guess), just for fun I raced my cousins 2001 Prelude and that was a big kill, my other cousins MB CLK AMG, oh my God that was really dirty!... I have tried to race others but cant win sh!t with my 275 pound buddy...:barf:

GSRs are mid-high 15 second cars... Stock, 2GNTs run low-mid 16s, I have seen a 16.2-16.1 from a stock RS on 14s with a decent driver. The automatic, however, is slow. Probably almost a second and a half slower. It's not just a rumour, the A/T 2GNTs are that slow. I was in that boat until I swapped. Friggin' slowass A/Ts...
-=B-=

OK i have an RS w/ intake, exhaust, and spark plugs and i've beat: v6 cougars, my friend's 2001 eclipse gt, an automatic 2000 celica gts, an 84? monte carlo ss, a 91 celica gt, and i raced a new grand prix gt w/ the 3800 v6 and it was close...i lost my just under a car

I can't beat crap in my beast of a car. But, that doesn't mean I'll see how bad I can get smoked  Sucks huh. But, I do get my boost fix elsewhere :thumb:

your car is slow, i'm sorry. :(

sorry, but you 420A guys must be wishful thinking when you say you can kill civic and integra's that are equiped with b16a2, b18c1, b17a, and even b18A engines. I'm talking stock to stock & same driving skills . It's not going to happen. Just save up for an engine swap. :thumb:

I have not had a stock 5 speed 420a, but from what I hear, the Civic Si is the only truly challenging Civic. Integras, however, prove to be more of a challenge.

I will never swap my engine out and finally I did a tranny swap it cost me $650 to do now I actually run 14.0 in my eclipse. I'm thinking of putting in high compression forged pistons so I can run 13.8 I would love to break into the thirteens. By the way I am running nos also I'm really not sure how my car would react though.

Well I guess that shows us how truley ignorant you are.....!

This is kind of scary, cause when I talk about racing cars and who I can beat I'm talking about LT1's and Cobra's.......not honda civic ex's! I guess I forgot what NA was like!!! LOL.....sorry just bringing back memories![
