Heres my build

Eagle 7 Bolt h-beam rods
Eagle 7 bolt crankshaft

now what bearings should i use? And what sizes?

do i still need to use the 6 bolt rod bearings for my rods or are they no longer required?

Standard size 7 bolt rod bearings correct?

Just because its a 7 bolt means nothing OP. If its a 97 then you need the thrust bearings as well.

Standard bearings are good if you are going for a stock rebuild, but, I would suggest ACL Rave bearings, they are tri metal and not too expensive at $100'ish for a set. of rod and main bearings.

With the eagle crank you need to use bearings to accommodate the radius on the crank. The ACl race bearings are chamfered so thats one maker there. I dont know if clevites are chamfered.

From what i've read there are 2 types of the eagle h-beam for 7 bolt. The current ones on their site are part #CRS-5900-MB3D, says right on the site that these are setup for 7bolt rod bearing sizing. I just got a used set of Eagle 7bolt Hbeams that are CRS-5900-MBB, I can't find these anywhere on the internet, but CRS-5900-MBXX goes only towards the stock dimension 7 Bolt Eagle rod. I would assume at that point I have the one to use 6 bolt rod bearings. I'm trying to find out for sure, as I already have rod bearings for 7bolt.

I started looking into this after I read this guys build up

4G64_buildup5

More specifically;
" Another helpful hint, as you can see my Eagle H-beams aren't new. What I didn't know about them is that they require 90-92 size bearings. I just happened to come across Eagles web site, and noticed a small note for these rods. It says "Note: must use bearings for 1990-1992 engine!" The guy I bought the rods from never said anything about it so I was going to use the 93+ bearings. The 93+ fit alright but the they are a little smaller. I test fit a used 6-bolt rod bearing I had laying around it fit perfectly. So a set of 90-92 Clevite bearings are on the way "

I would just try my 7bolt bearings but what fits and what fits "perfect" is too iffy. Just wondering if someone could shed some definitive light on this.

What did you end up doing? I have the same rods!

I looked all over eagle's website and it says nothing about using 6 bolt bearings with the 7 bolt rods.

I have a set of the old eagles and the new eagles. When I get home I will measure the stock rod journals on the old eagles, new eagles, and stock rods and I will tell you some concrete stuff in the morning.

Good thing you brought this up. I wouldnt want to be thrown off when I try to use those rods again.

I used eagle h-beams and their forged chromoly cankshaft in my 7bolt 4g64. I used 7bolt race (tri-metal) bearings from ACL because Eagle said to use chamfered bearings with their crankshaft due to the radii that they machine into the crank.

Well I spoke with my engine builder and Eagle and the 6 bolt bearing rods where just their 1st design. They revised this and didn't change part #'s or anything. He told me that the tang on 7 bolt bearings is smaller so they will fit but will be harder to locate in the rod. My Rods turned out to take 6 bolt bearings not the 7 bolts I had.
