i give ya the short story. trannie went boom, when i left the parking lot of local theater. left pieces of gearing and everything else in the parking lot. car's now in storage. anyone know were i could find a new or rebuilt trannie in or around NC. or somewhere online. most likely gonna replace diff. along with possibly adding clutch too.

This is what DSMing is all about. Yay.

Most of the time when our trannies explode, it is the differential, and since pieces fell out, the housing around it. Therefore both the case and differential are usually junk.

I would source a local junkyard. If you can not find any 2gnt Eclipses in your local yard, you are not out of luck. The 95+ Neon trannies will bolt right up. You would probably end up with a 3.55:1 diff, and slightly different gearing. (depending on the year)

NV-T350 is the marking on the trannies.

I believe 95-99 Neons used a cable clutch, so for this to work for you, you would need to swap the bellhousings and VSS with a non-exploded 2gnt bellhousing to put your hydraulic setup on. If you go with a 2000+ Neon tranny, you get less miles, and it already has the hydraulic stuff on it. Only need to change the VSS.

If you go the salvage route, be sure to at least change the axle seals. If you have to take the case apart, inspect the innerds, paying attention to condition of ALL gear teeth, synchronizers, shafts, differential (pin, plastic ring gear, all gears within), bearings, etc..

This would be a good time to think about installing a LSD, if you care to do so. Phantom Grip works, but has been known to be junk, causes damage. Retrofit I hear good things about, as far as these puck-type LSD's are. Quaife is awesome, but you pay for it.

Hope you get to driving soon.
