OK, first, see here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179847&highlight=slave+cylinder

So this is how long I've had to put up with this problem.
Now, like 15 minutes ago, I was sitting at a stop light and couldn't get the trans into 1st. So, I pumped the crap out of the pedal until I was able to make it engage like usual.

Light turns green, and for whatever reason, I decided to rev it up and slip the clutch at about 4k rpm. I hear what sounds like a grinding noise and I can see smoke coming from somewhere. Nervous, I let off and accelerate lightly. I go to shift into 2nd AND IT'S SMOOTH AS THE DAY IT WAS BRAND NEW! 3rd gear... NO PROBLEM! 4th... 5th... WHAT THE HELL?!?! Now it's acting like a normal transmission.

Anyone?

Sounds like your clutch master cylinder might be leaking or something. Check under the dash by the clutch pedal to see if there is any fluid. The smoke was probably from smoking your clutch....

Fluid is not getting into your slave/ master and throught the clutch " system " properly is what I would guess. Not sure tho. Also look on your slave cylinder. If the rod that extends out to the tranny is bent, get a new one.

I honestly don't think it's any of that. My guess is that one of the clutch springs were goofed up and I either knocked it out or back into place, or there was something jammed in between the clutch and pressure plate or a part of the moving assembly that wasn't letting it disengage fully.

I'll find out if the "fix" is permananet as I'm about to drive home from work. I just don't get it. WTF

Ahhh DSM's... always work the best they ever have right before they take a dump...

So after a few days of beautiful clutch actuation, it decided it had had enough and roasted itself yesterday.

Time to put in the ACT 2600. :thumb:

I'll keep you guys updated on how much of a pain in the ass that is. :notgood:

might want to also consider the SBR 3500 clutch... just as much grabbing power and less pedal pressure. no break in either. i just got it in my car and i love it.

did you ever find out what caused that to happen though? i mean, it sounds like something caused your clutch to slip like crazy and burn itself out. should be interesting to see what you find in there. also if it was roasting like that, might want to make sure your flywheel is in good shape.
