Weird smell and performance

I was just driving home from work and my car gave off a oil burning smell. The car wouldnt shift when its suppose to and my brakes had gotten stiff. After coming to a stop light the car began to shift regularly. The problem would come and go. Any help would be appreciated. car is all stock and A/T . thanks

The oil burning smell could be when hitting your brakes the front valve cover gasket could be leaking.

oil change was done yesterday. and one of my brake calipers is leaking brake fluid so im assuming the burned smell that. tho this this doesnt happen all the time. it would correct itself after stopping. Sometimes when my car is on drive, it wont shift into 4th as if i had the overdrive off and rolls on third unless i go up to 4krpms. Any idea what that problem is?
