Weird problem, need help!!

I have a 91 tsi awd that I saved from the junk yard, that had a blown head. I finally got it to run this week before that I never owned a Dsm. So the problem is I just bought a maf sensor I'm a 100% sure that I got the right one. When I pluged it in my car just randomly shuts of and dosent idle, without it it idles but it's hunting for something and dosent idle properly. I checked the tps the cam sensor and both work fine.....so now I'm stuck with this problem and need help... What could it be????

Maybe there is a crack/leak in the intake manifold after the MAF then it will be giving the car an erroneous reading which is worse than no signal. Did you check for leaks on vacuum lines?

+1 vacuum lines or manifold. It could also be an intake pipe that came loose. Have you checked the MAS to make sure it's working properly?

Yeah there is a bolt missing on the intake manifold that's missing and exhaust fumes are leaking out a bit, but could it be that the o2 sensor is reading wrong, cause my car is burning oil due to number 3 piston ring frozen to the piston. Cause the oil is burning it will mix with the exhaust fumes, but than why will the car completely shut off with the maf on????
