I have been having this weird sound for a while and I can't figure out what it is. When I accelerate, I hear a popping sound coming from the back right corner of my car. When I let off the gas I hear it again. It feels like something loose that is moving when the car leans back under acceleration and then falling back in place when I let of the gas. I have already checked the following:

1. Side skirts. I thought they might be popping in and out under acceleration but the sound still happens with them off.

2. Spare tire/trunk. I took everything out of the trunk, including spare tire, jack etc. and I still get the sound.

I think I am going to jack up the car this evening and check out the undercarriage. Any specif ideas where I should look? This is driving me crazy so any help is greatly appreciated.

What shape is your suspension in? It could be a bad shock popping. While your under there, check your rear control arms(assuming the 2g's have indi rear's) check all the link's for too much play. Loose Exhaust, anything else that may be accessable you can get your hand's on and see if it moves too much.

It very well good be the suspension. I had the front end worked on recently but rear suspension is pretty old. The weird thing is, I can't replicate the sound by rocking the car up and down. It only happens when I hit the gas hard.

Could it be the exhaust hitting somewhere. When you accelerate hard, the pipe could be dipping and smackin something.

Raise rear wheels off ground, get under where needed, and wiggle back and forth as hard as you can the following to check for looseness in bushings and ball joints: lower arm, toe control arm, stabilizer, trailing arm, knuckle arm, upper arm, shock top and bottom, wheels (bearings).

Thanks for the help everyone. I have a sick wife at home so it will probably be this weekend before I can get under the car. I'll be sure to update if I find anything.
