For a little while now ive noticed that sometimes when i start my car i could hear what almost sounded like a metallic rattle but by car runs fine and continues to run fine. I had my dad start the car while i stood over the motor and listened for where the sound is coming from and i narrowed it down to the throttle body area, mabye even under the throttle body. Also i can hear a electric step motor or solenoid sound when my dad turns the key from off to on but not starting the car. I cant really figure out what it could be or where its coming from. I even tried using the metal rod to the ear to find the culpret but no luck. Any ideas? The wonderous world of DSM's

I have the same noise on my 90 GS-t. The car runs fine but with the key in the ON position makes a weird noise just like you described. Any luck on finding out what it is?? I have posted on other forums as well and nothing.

I'm just getting my car back together, and today got the TB and intake mounted in. I too, have that sound when I turn the key to on. Stepper motor sound for a second. This is a new TB so I need to make sure whether that sound isn't normal. I don't have any coolant in the car yet either, if that plays a role in it.. Also it's an NT tb.
