I searched "no start" and read 20 pages of posts - none addressed my issue!!
I have a 1995 spyder manual trans. The car has spark - getting all kinds of fuel - checked the plugs - no codes.

Here's the weird part - when cranking the engine - it feels and sounds like there's some sort of restriction, or drag on the engine - like trying to start in with the clutch out (but, not that bad). It's like it has too much compression (like it's fighting against itself).

I also noticed that the boost gauge moves up to the middle of the gauge while cranking the engine.

I have to say - I don't ever recall looking at the boost gauge while starting the engine before today - so, I guess the first question is - is that normal?

I am looking any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Is it cranking over normal or does it not sound right?
Check your timing belt, may have jumped.
and yes the gauge going to 0 is normal until it starts!

It cranks - but sounds odd - no knocking or thumping - just feel/sounds like there's a restricition or a drag fighting against the engine (hard to explain in words). It has always been a good runing car - no problems leading up to this one. I am not sure how to check the timing (aside form pulling the covers to see if the marks are lined up).

Thanks,

Ok - it appears it jumped time - as supported by pulling the timing cover and looking at the marks. I think the valves are bent? Should the intake and exhust cam sprockets spin easy with the timing belt off? Mine do not - I can barely force them to turn (spark plugs are out). I think it's time to junk the car!!

Thanks,
Brad
