weird loss of power

The other day I was driving my 90 gsx 5 speed and while my foot was on the gas the car lost power so I came to a stop I couldnt put it in gear. I turned off the car gave it a bit started it back up ran like a champ again has anybody ever had that happen?

Did it throw a CEL? Oil light come on or anything? did it chug doown like the motor was suffocating or did it just click off like an electrical thing? If it lost electrical power, id test your alternator and make sure your ground wire on your battery is TIGHT. Also, ive seen people 'trip' their battery (positive and negative cross) because they hit a bump and the battery jumped up and hit the hood at the terminals. good way to fix that is make sure you got your positive termincal covered, or bungie cord the battery down .


Not sure about not being able to get it back in gear if its an electrical issue. Shake the shifter knob around maybe?

No cel or any warning lights the positive has a rubber cover on it and they r both on tight. The car stumbled and had low idle I tried putting it in gear and it was as if I didn't press the clutch but no grind. I then turned it off gave it a bit turned it back on then ran normal

Did it stutter at all before it turned off?

Have you signal/voltage checked your ecu?
