weird idle and no power... help!

well i was driving home last night and i am stopped at a stop light my car dies. right before it dies i notice that the Karmen sensor reading on my S-AFC is jumping around and dips down to about 4 hz and then goes up to 15 and is all over the place. I start it back up and it dies again. One more time and i give it some gas and it spudders and really hesitates and bearly gets up to 1k rpms. i let off the gas and it trys to idle at 300 rpms and then dies again and the CEL is on.

now the weird part...
after checking the timing belt and the some other random stuff i call AAA and get it towed to my mechanic. the flat bed comes out drops my car off. the next day my car starts up fine and runs perfect for about 30 mins. and then the same thing again. it dies and tries to idle at 300 rpms. i start it up and drive it like this 1/2 a mile back to the mechanic and park it on the inclined part of the drive way. i show the mechanic what it does, turn it off for a sec and then start it again and it starts right up!!!!! also while i was driving it to the mechanic the karmen reading was up to 50hz.
does any one have any idea what could be wrong?????? I am thinking something in the fuel system but i dont know.

i had a similar oprblem with my 97 n/t. it would run fine 4 like 20 mins then it would start sputterin and stalling out. and i also had no power i would be redlining 1st gear at like 20. but i checked my spark plugs and found they were gapped 15 over 35 (at 50). i regapped them had a lil bit of accel but still nearly dead on power. so 2 day i changed my fuel filter. turns out it was the problem all along. maybe urs may be related 2 if not then i hope ya find what it is

I think i found the problem today. my ignition coil was bad. it wasnt even firring on the 1 and 4 pistons. We had the cat off thinking maybe that had something to do with the problem and it sounded straight like a Harley while running on 2 pistons!!
