So my car started severly spuddering past around 25% throttle under 3000 RPM. No engine light but my buddy at autozone scanned it and the error code came up U33 something i can't remember.(I'll get the code when I get home) Anyway, the scanner said "Ignition Input Off" My friend said it was a dealer code and I should call them and ask them what it really means.

Anybody know what this means? 95 Talon with the single plug ECU.

Is the ECU dying on me or maybe do I just need some new wires? I have new MSD wires on the way, they will be here on friday. I also put new plugs in it and that didn't help at all.

What kind of other preventative maintenance have you done on the vehicle? The notorious "dying" 95 ecu usually results in random shutting down of the car etc, not necessarily what you're experiencing.

I have done all the regular maintenance to my car that anyone would do. The plug wires I have on there now aren't even 2 years old. As of around maybe 20,000 miles ago i changed all belts including timing belt and everything that goes with it and new water pump etc etc.

According to my info, code 33 (u33) means:

33 A/C Clutch Relay Circuit.

This is for a N/T 2g Talon/Eclipse.

Check the coil packs anyway, the code (if there were no CELs) could be somthing completely unrelated. Sputtering as you describe should throw a CEL very shortly. Sounds like you're misfiring.

Seeing as your buddy gave you the "Ignition Input Off" read, I'd start there.

If you can get me the P code I can get you more precise info on the code and conditions causing it. I own my own Snap on scanner and the data in it will definitly help you fix the issue.

Ok I got the code. It's U3FFF. Ignition input off. No P codes were thrown except for the o2 sensor since I have no cat. I will look at the ignition equipment later today.

I had the same issue. Car ran like crap without any codes. The only way the light would come on was after I gave up and took it to a shop and he basically kept going around the block beating on it until the engine light came on. It was the ignition coil. I drove for over 2 weeks with it running like that. Even had a "mitsu tech" look at it and scratch his head. WTF If you know of anyone with the same vehicle, swap the coil and see if it goes away.
