Its hard to explain how it happened, but basically the bottom of my car got tore up a little bit, but it made me aware of another problem at the same time.

I ran over something that started scuffing the underside of my car, mostly just damaging the exhaust. The flex section area is frayed/torn apart, but doesnt have any holes underneath on the solid part of it. Does anyone know if most local shops will just weld in a new flex section? or will i have to get a whole new downpipe? if it matters im using the apexi 3" N1 dp.

secondly, my oil is draining into my coolant for sure, it was overflowing like mad last night, and when i got home my dipstick was about bone dry. im guessing its a headgasket, but i didnt that that would run me out of oil, i thought it would just mix the two.

I swapped to a 14b a little bit ago, could that have anything to do with it either? 9just figured id mention it)

dude if you have coolent in ur oil get that car off the road imeaditly to avoid further damage. And yes thats a head gasket problem. As for the flex pipe yea the shop can weld in a new flex pipe but its gonna run u atleast 100 alone for the flex pipe if its 2.5 in look at 150 if its 3in. then paying labor to install it. Might be better to get a new flex pipe if its cheeper. I would get an estimate first.

car is alreayd off the road. i plan to call some local exhaust shops on monday to see about getting a new flex section put in. If they cant make an easy/cheap job ill just order a new DP.

ive never read up much on how much trouble im in with this bad headgasket. I wont be doing it myself, what should i be expecting to pay someone to do it? and should i jsut have them do it all up, or should i order a special headgasket to give them to install this time.

thanks

EDIT: does anyone know how long the flex section is supposed to be on a 3" N1 downpipe, i know everyones got that pipe, so someone go out and measure it please! (just measuring the braided part)

Im shopping for headgaskets already...

If my internals and bore are all stock, what size headgasket would i want to get? extremepsi.com has 3 options, 85.5mm, 86mm, 87mm

which should i get?

for reference, here is the page im looking at... http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=553

also, i was wondering if it would even be worth my time to buy better head studs. i dont really plan on building this car internally or getting a huge turbo. im not building a monster.

It may not be your headgasket. Check your oil cooler for damage. It's watercooled so if it got damaged like the rest of your car then that could be your problem. Also check your compression before you go ripping your head apart and order gaskets if it's not the problem.

for the flex section of the down pipe just take it to a shop and tell them to replace the flex section with a new flex pipe and they will take care of u just cut out the old one and replace the new one. No need to shop for one just tell them what u need done and the'll take care of u.

As for the headgasket thats the thickness size of the head gasket not for different bores and stuff like that. Just got with a stock one. I have a my block bored 20 over and im using a stock head gasket. But yea check out the water oil cooler by your filter to see if theres damage. I dont have to worry about this since i have a Air oil cooler. Good luck man

OK, after leaving it at the shop a couple days, theyve found hte problem to surely be the oil cooler. He mentioned a couple options, but i figured id ask here first. He said i either can get a new one form the factotry for $400, or we could just bypass it. RIght now hes got it bypassed, but he is unsure wether or not thats such a great idea.
