water pump removal?

Hi I was just making sure that its possible to take off the water pump with out messing with the timing belt. It seems like im gonna have to take off the power steering, alternator, and TB cover to get to the pump...Does this sound right?

The water pump is on the timing belt loop. It isn't possible to remove it without removing the timing belt.
 
The water pump IS driven off the timing belt circuit. If you look at your pulleys from the top with the covers off, you should see a double pulley (one between the head and another one towards the fender from it). The outside pulley should have 4x 10mm bolts around the center holding it on. This is the pulley that drives the water pump.
 
It doesn't matter if its not driven off of it, theres all that shit in front of the water pump that have to be removed before you will gain full access to the pump.

Why are you questioning us?

There has already been a handful of members, including a wiseman that have told you that the t-belt, and all accessories must be removed in order to gain full access to the water pump. If you somehow think you can jimmy your way around it successfully you are wrong.

Take our advice, remove all t-belt parts, and accesories, and replace the water pump. Then, make sure to re-do your timing correctly.
 
Now do you see why everthing needs to be removed, including the t-belt?

Obviously, the timing belt tensioner pulley is in the way of the water pump, along w/ the motor mount bracket, alternator bracket, and a few other things.

Okay guys, I dont mean to be a pain the ass! But it almost looks like you can get away with taking off the tensioner, alt. power steering and motor mount bracket...

P.S. I doidnt mean to offend anyone's knowledge, Im just trying to make myself believe I dont have to go through with all the extra work. This is being done on a swaped colt, so there isnt to much room to work with.
 
Just bite the bullet and take it to a reliable shop and they will replace your belts, seals, and water pump for around 400 bucks.

Or you can do it yourself by removing all the belts and some pulleys.

As well you don't want to let your timing belt get wet, whether it be with antifreeze or oil. When you remove that pump you are going to have antifreeze leakin down and you wanna keep your belt dry. Removing it is the way to do it.
 
But with taking off the tensioner and tensioner pulley, off comes the t-belt! Zip tie the t-belt to the cam gears before dissasembly so upon reassembly the cam gears don't need to be fully timed again.

BUT, I'm almost positive, been a while since I did a water pump, but the belt will have to be removed b/c the front motor mount bracket needs to be removed in order to gain access to the bottom water pump bolt.

Please dont kill me but my next question is...do you think my pump is bad or could it be the gasket because after getting my car smogged and being ran on the dyno, it started leaking coolant from the timing side. So I let the car sit for about an hour, drive 15min back home and no more leaking and still have a good amount of coolant in the radiator. What the hell is going on here?
 
Could be the water pump gasket, or the water pipe to pump o-ring, or, or, or, it could be the Head Gasket. Its somewhat common for head gaskets, especially aftermarket ones to push oil or coolant when hot then stop leaking when it cools back down.

Okay!!!! now your starting to scare me....
 
It's a hole in the casting of the pump that will leak before your whole pump goes. It's basically a warning to get it fixed.
