water neck and coolant sensor wires

Only one I could find was for the Coolant Temp Switch. Wires are Black/Green and Green/Yellow. Should move this too the Newbie Section to get better response.

That is the sensor with the two 1/4" spade terminals right? (and I'm guessing polarity wouldn't matter).

What is the one next to it with one 1/4" spade terminal?

yeah...I try to follow the rules and not post to the newbie section, but it seems that very few posts get answered in these other forums for some reason. :)

Correct. The single spade one is for the factory gauge. Should be a single spade sensor in the water neck housing.

ok...so if someone can tell me the two wire colors for the temperature sensor in the neck, the gauge wire would be the only one left. :D

I'm replacing the temp sensor and it's connector; my old connector was gone so I just soldered two wires directly to the sensor and filled it with epoxy...not pretty, but it worked until I could do it the right way and replace the harness connector during this rebuild. So now I need to find out which two wires go to that sensor connector. (or if anyone has an extra connector laying around with a couple of inches of wire hanging off, that would work also :D)

Last year I bought a couple of these connectors from Ballenger, but they don't fit the factory sensor. Ballenger has this sensor, which I think would work (someone feel free to verify this)...and the page says that the connectors I bought will fit it. So I need to either get this sensor, or find a connector for the factory one.

Thanks for the help so far Adam.

Finally found this in the factory schematics. For future reference:

Temperature Sensor (sensor in t-stat housing) - G/B and Y/G
Coolant Temperature Gauge (single spade terminal) - Y/G
Coolant Temperature Switch (double spade terminal) - B/G and G/Y

As for the sensor plug I need, I was scrounging around in my box of left-overs and discovered that my now unused A/C pressure switch plug is the same size as the coolant sensor. I also found the coolant sensor that I ordered from Ballenger last year (the one I have pigtail connectors for).

So now I just need to decide whether to use the factory sensor and A/C connector, or the Ballenger sensor and the new pigtail. Does anyone know if that Ballenger sensor I linked to will work? The threads seem to fit...

Decisions...decisions... :D
