was it because of my launch?

Trenton,
Damn Im dissapointed,

I know those G-tech things arent percise but I know they are pretty close, and I ran a 15.9 on one tonight... I was really mad on the way home at my slow time but I did have a horrible launch , I suck at launching, I bogged down to 500 rpm then took off, My trap speed was 96MPH 155KPH , was the launch what ruined my time?

This sucks

BTW im running just basic upgrades at 15-16 psi

practice your launching.....take it to the track....get a real time.

thats the only way you're goin to know if its your driving that's slowing you down.

damn...you have an awd and have problem launching??? ROFL
you should try driving a fwd then......sheshhh...................
hahahah, not trying to diss ya or anything but yeah...lauching is important straight line racing.

you want a good GTech time? Heres how you do it. Get a decent launch. Grab 2nd. Then yank the GTech off the windshield or where ever it is and through it as hard as you can in the back seat.

Hope that helps :) LOL

As said already, driving makes all the difference.

I would say launching is the most important to make good times. thats why you see cars going 12.8 @107mph and others doing 14.2 @110mph the difference is launching right
That's usually a AWD/FWD difference. Launching doesn't USUALLY make that big of a difference. But launching is the first step to a good run. Go find somewhere you can screw around at and practice. But be careful cuz it does cause things to break.

Listen if you got AWD and your bogging take that thing up to like 4500 5000 and slip NOT DUMP the clutch real quick and hold on to something cause you aint gonna have no more launching problems. you perfect the slip and awd is beast mode off the line. :thumb:

Yeah and I hear don't reverse then attempt to launch from that position (I heard that if you back up abit, then just put it into first without moving forward abit - you can have some 'play' in your gears and it will really slap the ish outa them, I dunno I'ma FWD guy I dun have to worry about 5K+ launches, I start at 3K.) ;)

A poor launch can ruin an otherwise decent run. The other thing a lot of people don't pay enough attention to is the 1-2 shift. We video tape all our passes and review them later. This is something to consider depending on how serious you are.The bottom line is it takes some practice to nail launches consistently. How bad do you want it and how much can you afford to break ?? Good luck ! :thumb:

This is HARD on parts, but if you really want to launch your M/T AWD try this:
On your marks...
Put it in 1st with the clutch in, Pull-up E-brake tight and hold it up with the button depressed.
Get set ...
Bring RPM's up to 6K, bring clutch pedal up till it just starts to engage/slip/smell and hold.
GO!
In one smooth motion/rapid succession/almost simultaneously slam down the E-brake, step off the clutch, and go WOT.
Your right hand will need to go straight from the E-brake to the shifter and pull it back to 2nd cuz first gear is gone before you realize it (as above the 1-2 shift becomes critical).
This is loads of fun, but will shred your clutch, slam your axles, burn your tires (if the pavement has any tilt to it, you may start sliding downhill and need to aim/steer uphill) and break your neck/spoil your shorts OMG . I haven't done this since I had my engine and halfshafts replaced (haven't tried to outlaunch any bikes lately and nobody else is worth it), but you should launch as hard as anything else you'll face at the track, unless you break. My buddy who sold me my Talon used this method to run a 12.4 @ 109 (50HP NOS in 2nd and 3rd only) with a 1.6 sec 60 ft. with my car mostly as listed except for some weight reduction and boost limited at 15PSI.

Yeah man dont beat ur self up over a g-tec reading....Like he said take it to the track and get some real numbers :thumb:

If you get your car to ajunk yeard get it weighed put that exact weight in the g-tech and those numbers are like.000001 off or something crazy. I think not being sarcastic that it's 1 one hundredth or less correctness. So i wouldn't sweat it if you just threw in a guestimate for your weight but if you put in the right weight that's about where you are.

I thought on those Gtechs that the weight only had to do with the horsepower readings.

Technically I guess it dosen't need to know how much your car weighs to calcualte how long it takes your car to travel a 1/4 mile. Well with that said looks like you pretty much ran a high 15 like the previous guy said if your trap is descent work on launching or get some mods and tuning.

your takeoff is everything in drag racing. I have seen over a full second added to my 1/4 mile times when my car bogs and falls on its face just like you described, compared to when I have a good launch. Get your launch down and you will see your quarter mile times drop like an ass on a rap video.
